Downforce Basics.

The rear bumper on the FRS is like a big bloody parachute, I'll get a pic if I can. When I get round to it I hope to fab up and undertray just for the rear. I'd like a working diffuser but that's a lot of work and means cutting the rear bumper up!

This is a very good thread. One thing it didn't say was, if you install a splitter it must be braced to steel. At high speed they can produce 200 to 300lbs of down force and if it's not braced it can tear off. Can cause big damage under the car.:(
 
That's why this thread is called downforce basics :)
Installation of effective (as opposed to cosmetic) downforce producing structures is a separate issue as this article is just explaining the principles.

How about starting a separate thread explaining how to install downforce devices?
