So, a friend of a friend is selling a 240z, as shown below, with a 2.85l (technically) RB26DETT Skyline engine in.

I dont know much about the car yet, other than its £4400, and according to my good friend, its in very good nick and has won a few competitions.

Looks gorgeous from there, I've yet to see more pictures and its pretty (although possible) unlikely that I'll buy it.

Again, yet to see details, but its claimed to put out 640bhp, its no longer a twin turbo, but has a single HKS turbo... basically, its no longer stock. It also falls under Classic Insurance, and is tax exempt.

I'd be interesting to know the following - Classic insurance, are there any age limits? What would I be looking to spend as a 21 year old, is this a pipe dream?

More details to be found out yet, but cheers guys. Aint been around in a while, but much <3 to those who remember me! :)

Regards,

Izo

Hi Izo, I think most of us remember you. Classic isurance often require the car to be standard. It would be worth ringing Adrian Flux for a quotation and if I were you I'd ask for an agreed value policy. It looks awesome and would be a fantasic buy.

What year is it then? I though free Tax was pre 1972 models only?

Ya pre 1973 models are tax free, I would have been more interested if the car was stock and well kept, no big classic insurance company will take a body panel modified classic either.

R H Specialist insurance and Heritage would take a look along with aformentioned Adrian Flux. They do with the modified Porsches anyway in the TIPEC club. Talk to them although I doubt it'll come under 'classic' insurance rules. Age shouldn't be as much of an issue with these cars as they look at it that these are rare or unique cars and you're not going to be stupid with them and tear up and down the city streets at 100 mph:confused: If you don't want the car then wheres it up for sale I might be interested;)
