corsa crankshaft oil seal

hello my crankshaft oil seal has gone do i have to time the engine up
before i take the timing belt off or can i take it off at any point do the job
then time it up

Before you remove any belts put a mark on the pullies at top dead centre and mark the engine at the same time then you'll be able to match it back up mate.

thank you how do i know when its at top dead center years ago i would take out the
spark plugs put in a knitting needle turn the engine untill the needle came to the top
then i knew the piston was up the top
