A friend of mine has a power steering leak. On investigation the metal Clip that holds the air hose to the filter box had rubbed against a metal pipe that takes the power steering fluid and had worn a sizeable hole in it.

It's amazing something so simple can cause such a big problem.

It made me more paranoid, if I see anything rubbing or connecting where it shouldn't now I'm going to sort it out before something happens.

Have you ever had anything similar happen on your car?

brake line. the spring clip that held it in place on the suspension had came off and the line ended up running against the wheel

I find this alot, had one of the air-con alloy pipes on the Disco worn through where part of the airbox piping crossed its path. It was just a few degrees out of position but made a right mess of the pipe which was hidden from view. Also on another car I found a pipe rubbing against the radiator, this was OE parts and not something fitted afterwards.
