Carbon Trims?

I have been scanning a certain auction website trying to find the best looking carbon front end splitter for my baby. And the amount of parts that come up under carbon fiber are emence.

I have found (with no real effort)
Front splitter
Front bumper air flow guides (atached to the side of the front bumper)
Door trims (already got)
rear air flow top spoiler (already got)
Mirror casing
exhaust guard
Bonnet
Front bumper air intake guards
Skirts

The problem is. I feel my self drawn towards buying a couple of these items. I would like the splitter, exhaust guard and maybe (sorry guys) the mirror casing. Does this make me a clueless idiot, or are these things stylish?

Your ideas please

Front splitter at least looks awesome. This is the one my mate has:

I think T9man should answer this :)

Oz has probably spent my years salery on carbon trim for his car so I'm sure he'll know who to talk to.

Cheers fellas :) BBJ everything about carbon fibre trim is cool, but! you need to be objective and say to yourself, is this piece of trim really what I want?
It is very easy to get carried away and overdue things, especially on the exterior! the trick is knowing when to stop!

I have spent a small fortune in the last 5 months on the CF trim and for me it was worth every penny.

There are an awful lot of muffins out there who churn out the CF trims without due care and attention. If improperly made, they can go cloudy and have pin spots in the weave which would drive a fussy character like yourself (Me too!) absolutely crazy!

If you cannot view the trim that you would like to have, first hand and up close before buying, then be aware that you might be disappointed upon it's arrival.
If like me finding the right parts made by the right kind of company is a little difficult to source (Quality parts mind you!) then go custom/bespoke.

I can highly recommend the following company: www.carbonweezel.co.uk who have made a number of special items for my baby both inside and out, every piece is custom made and not off the shelf!

If you call them; Nick or Ben, then I can assure you that will be well taken care off and that you will also be in the best of professional hands. Let them know Dr Reid recommended them to you and they will know to take you seriously and not like another dreamer who discovered the website.

Any further help that I can be to you BBJ please don't hesitate to ask.

Looking at the pic on e-bay, that's the exact same splitter. Quality and fitment is spot-on, this is his second due to the first one getting batterred.

The exhaust guard looks awesome too. The MR 340 and 320 had those fitted as standard so he has that too!

I second the recommendation of Carbon Weezel. They have made my bonnet, boot, dash, interior trim and are in the process of making my doors.

One thing that T9 didn't mention is they will not be cheap, but real quality doesn't come cheap.

Cheers guy's. It just seemed a little cheep at £159 for a front splitter. But if its the same as your mates MA and the fitting is top, then I might go for it.

Im getting her cut and pollished when I get back. But the guy said the mirrors might not come up because of the plastic. What about these as a replacement.

Then thats me. I promise!

They should do, it is just paint on it after all. Mirror caps look cool though, some cars can pull of lots of CF, some can't. The 'Vo definately can!

Oh and it's not that cheap once you include the delivery from Taiwan and a huge wait lol. I would go fo the Rexspeed one from Indigo GT rather than risk the one from Taiwan. Same style but the Taiwan one if a copy of a copy and the Rexspeed one is a copy of another one (Do-luck IIRC)!

T9 - Where you get your defuser from? That looks amazing on your beast. Was it custom made?

Indeed it is a custom job BBJ, I had it made by a company in Sweden before I discovered the Carbon Weezel chaps; it was mucho dinero and took 5 weeks to make.

Pennies to a man of your calibre!

Ok, a promise might be a little hasty, but at least in a oner!

Three items at a time will do. My pennies I'm saving out here will help go towards it. :D

I have a feeling your poor car won't know what hit it when you arrive back on these shores with a swollen bank balance!

But trust me on this BBJ, take the missus out first!!!!! Wine her, dine her! and no I don't mean at the local burger van for a breakfast bap! :amuse: plus throw in a nice pair of shoes along with a nice dress and matching handbag, and here's the tough bit BBJ; go with her when she buys this stuff. I guarantee you anything you spend on the car after that will go totally unnoticed! ;)

I like your style. I was going to treat her. Was goin to let HER PICK THE TAKE AWAY! But I might have to do a couple of the things you suggested! :toung:

So what your saying is dress her first, then dress my baby Evo up after!

There you go I new you would get it straight away

And I thought you had to keep them poorly shod and well......................................................................................................................... fed.

I have been looking at more bits and bobs.

£1500-£2000 budget (including labour)

Front splitter - £160
Exhaust guard - £80
262 cams - £400
HKS Pullie - £110
10.5T housing - £150 (ish from ebay second hand/recon)
Blue silicon piping - £60
Carbon spark cover - £110

That comes to £1070. Cost of fitting cams, pullie, turbo housing and silicon pipe.....?

Oh and need to get the AYC fixed aswell. Switch has gone on the pump. Thats about £200 plus fitting. Oh, and pads are on there way out. Need new brake pads.

I have been wanting to put new cams in for around a year, but believe it or not, I have not been back to South Wales to get it done. I won't have any other garage do upgrade work on the engine other than Indigo GT.

Apart from that, She has just had her timing belt done, and full service.

Do you think the misses will like that T9? She can like it or lump it! :D

The good thing is with my love, is she doesn't understand car talk, so she will never know what has just gone on. And I'll tell her the cost............ When she is drunk :p

Scotland but you have your work done in Wales? Man you crazy, there are loads of Evo specialists no-one's had any trouble with, and loads that people have had trouble with!

Yeah I know. Im not having work done at a miti garage, as I don't fully trust them to do any work other than services. (because I know they have a noddy guide for that) and I have not found any Jap specialists by me. I think there is one, but I have not had a good record with local garages in that area. I have been to indigo, and my mates have and had no problems.

Id does sound daft really. Especially after I took the mick out of T9 for going all the way to deamon tweeks for an air filter! :embarrest:

Tell her how much it all costs when she's drunk  so she won't recall a thing and your conscience is clear! You are a devious thinking man BBJ

Ah ha! I was just about to bring your attention to this BBJ
I had to endure merciless micky taking on my account just because I travelled a few miles or so up the road, just to get a little job done!

:embarrest::(:embarrest:

Yeah, but. No but!

What do you think of the suggestions any how? Its it 2K well spent?? Or have I missed something out?

The list looks fine BBJ and it looks like your 2K is going quite far actually! I hope your going to post up some photos of the new look monster when the work is all done?

Will do. I have one or two my phone. Just no connector. I really need to get a gallery sorted.

Its a bit rubbish really. I have been on here close to two years and still not got a gallery done. It will be my first job when I get back. :blink1:

There you go Mr T9. I was visiting family before going away and my grandad was good enough to take a picture of my baby. As it happens he has just sent me a picture. So I have put it on. Its under gallery. She is a bit dirty, but what do you expect after a 500 mile drive!! lol :cheesy:

Yeah, as long as I can get a 10.5t housing. I already have the elbow off the turbo upgraded so air flow comming out is good. The guy recons 410 is around the max without having to start changing pistons, valves ect. But that all depends on the fuel you use as well. The guy down in south Wales has a mate in Aberdeen with a rolling road for AWD cars. So will get in touch with him.

Yeah. Thats why you get the FQ-400 I think. Its about all you would want to get out of the standard engine. I have been going on about getting new cams in her for about a year now. I just haven't had the time to do it. Can't wate to go south Wales when Im back in the country.

May of underpriced the hose kits I want. :sad2: On closer inspection, the hose kit priced at £65 was two hoses, not the full wack (thought it was a bit cheep) id actually be looking at
£65 - Coolent (indigo GT)
£115 - Induction (DT)
£220 - Turbo kit (DT)

http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/Performance/Silicone_Hoses_Accessories/Silicone_Hose_Kits/523

Anyone know a good place to get fully fitted out with full hose kits, or is this the sort of price I'm looking at. £400 for hoses :sad2: I was expecting around £250.

Try these people for the hoses BBJ they have a good rep and your money does go further with them. http://www.auto-performance.co.uk/

There is another site that I have in my favourites somewhere, it is a company based in Wales who can make up universal Induction kits etc and fit silicon & alloy pipes and hoses for you. If memory serves me correctly it was all super bling stuff. Will keep looking and see if I can find it for you.

Yeah mate, that's Samco. I have emailed them this morning :amuse:

Ill have a look at your auto preformance, see what I can get. Cheers

Don't think Auto Performance do hoses? Bottom line is Silicone hoses are expensive, but so is Demon Tweeks usually and your best bet is to contact Samco directly, try SFS OR go to the Jap shows next year and look around because a lot of stuff is usually on offer or can be if you ask nicely enough :D
