Car owners bewildered by Garages

Do garages ever bewlider you? 40% pretend to understand what a mechanic is telling them!

Are people afraid to ask? Does this just show how mechanically illiterate the motoring public are or do you think it is a genuine issue?

i remember when someone asked our receptionist what an anti rollbar does she cameout and asked me and the other lad, i laughed and simply said stops the car from rolling, turned round and there was the customer...oh dear lol

I never have a problem understanding them at all. Quite often if it's a non specialist place they struggle to keep up, as per MA's comment.

I've only used garages for MOT's. I always prefer to go for the smaller garages cos they are always more laid back & theres no waiting in line. The only time I've used a main dealer, they wouldn't even let me stay with my car...health & safety nazi bollox.

I've never had a problem understanding a mechanic (unless they're polish), but they've never really had much to complain about.

I'm lucky enough that my business partner also runs a garage, always go there so I know I'm not getting spouted crap.

I usually do not need to go to the garages as I know quite a few mechanics myself but never have any trouble understanding since I've been playing around cars for as long as I can remember
