Car from scratch?

So at my university you have to do a thesis, and i am a design major. As an art student my thesis consists of a solo show. SO, for my thesis i am planning on building a car from scratch any body ever done this?
Got any suggestions for an engine? Im thinking a fiberglass body with a rear engine.

My brother is currently doing the same, making a spaceframe shell firstly and designing and manufacturing the suspension set up etc.. How long do you have to do this project?

Have a look at some kit car build kits for inspiration. Building a complete car is a massive project.

It would probably make more sense to utilise as many major OEM components as possible. What is the aim? Getting a good looking car or a fun/powerful car?

thats awesome i will look up some kits.
I got like 3 semesters so about a year and a half
What i am planning on constructing is probably something that looks nica and looks fast, then powerful enought o go on its own power...
im thinking a GM Northstar V8 paired with a pontiac fiero transmission
on a fiero subframe
