Just wondering if it's possible to fit a turbo from a diesel engine onto a petrol car? Will it give you more torque and low end power?

Why would you want to? They firstly don't like the heat generated in a petrol engine, which is much greater than a diesel.

The flow of a diesel exhaust and intake is also much smaller with a typical 4500rpm redline so the turbo does not need to reach beyond this, but in a petrol engine you are just into the peak power band with another 2000 rpm or so to play with.

Modern diesel turbos are the sliding vane on the turbine side type and don't know how they would go on a petrol engine
Hopefully there is someone out there with more knowledge about them.?
