I know that reboring an engine is basically drilling out the cylinders to make them bigger and gain more cubic capacity but can every engine be rebored?

How can you tell? What do you need to look out for?

I know nothing on the subject, but I can give an educated guess....
All engines can be bored out. Not all engines will survive the process.
No idea what to look out for.

Motors with cast iron bores ot sleeves can be bored oversize and the makers ueually have recommendations as to how far they can be bored out BUT there are some alloy blocke that have the bores sprayed/lined with some type of treatment ( nicaksil ?) that can't be bored out to a larger diameter.

You need to make sure you can get pistons to fit your chosen bore size, this is not always possible.

Iron blocks bore out nicely but most now are aluminium blocks with iron liners. You don't have much scope to bore these out. Some engines only safely tolerate a 0.5mm extra bore, so it's worth doing your research.
