Can additives stop the clunk from a noisy gearbox ?

I recently replaced gearbox oil in the hope to be rid of the clunking noise during gear change, however the noise remains.

Car goes into each gear perfectly, no hesitation at all. I just get this annoying clunk, it's not the clutch release bearing because it only makes this noise in the lower gears.

Somebody said using an additive such as gearbox slick 50 will erase the noise. is this correct ?

EDIT: I'd rather not replace transmission because

A. I have spent thousands already in the last 4 years on repairs
B. Car is going into each gear perfectly

Are you sure that the clunk is not the result of badly timed gearchanges/technique OR engine/transmission mounts.???

I wouldn't put any friction-reducing additives in the gearbox, the synchro rings work on friction so you could give yourself big trouble with crunchy gear changes - and still have your clunk. My first guess would have been, as TCJB says, the engine mount(s) needing replaced.

Incidentally, it's not the ABS self-test, a noise like a knock or thump between 10-15 mph? This is considered normal.

Otherwise it could be your Dual Mass Flywheel on its way out - Big Bucks.
