its a beut mate. i bet. lol.
dont know what to do now ? i went for my car as i was doing stupid mileage, but my job is now less than ten minute drive away so was thinking of changing it after xmas. will see. may get it mapped and see if it still gets me going and if so, get some serious cash spent on her me thinks.

Nice Loz! I like the colour too. But underneath it is still a Rover!

I guess the Talon 100R is as well though ;)

Enjoy the lift off oversteer! :D

OMG I can honestly say I didn't think you would actually buy another car. Whats the specs on these things? Always overlooked them as I don't like MG's but that's just me.

Who does a turbo kit then? :D

It's the ZS 180, 2.5 V6.
I can always remove the aircon & chuck in a supercharger but there's not much room under that bonnet!

After driving the go kart 100 the MG is taking some getting used to & it's the first car I've had with power steering & that's a little odd too.

Sweet.

I had a ZS180 and loved it, sublime handling and pretty rapid.

Supercharging is quite a common mod on these. Get rid of the crappy plastic clutch slave cylinder components and plastic VIS motors in the inlet and you'll be laughing. Like a lot of V6s it benefits from freeing the breathing up too.

Yep honda clutch kit is one of the first things on the list. :D

For a minute I thought Loz had bought a 'normal' car. I think these used parts from Honda as well so it's not as bad as most Rovers .

Let me educate you.

:p;)

The ZS was basically a Honda Civic, which have always handled well in stock form. The Rover engineers, with a budget probably less than BMW spends on office coffee machines changed the suspension, brakes and engine and made an absolute cracker of a driver's car. I'll always wonder what they could have done with some decent funding, decent management and decent support from the **(&^ing Labour government - well it's shame we never found out.

I loved mine.

I've seen this one on theMGZS.co.uk forum as a member was looking at this particluar one. Hope you got it for a good price and it has had its belts and water pump changed!

You will learn to love it as they are immense cars for the money. They also make a cracking track day car as well :blink1:

Come April I would have had mine 6 years, that is how much I enjoy mine!

I put it on par with my HS Chevette for fun.

You surprised me there Loz!

Loz, have the three belts been changed? If so then it's a fair price if in good nick with history. If the belts have not been done, then you have paid too much as they are going for £600 upwards. In my opinion it is still a daft price for what it is. These cars are worth more broken up these days.

Let the tuning commence!

I personally would not bother with supercharging, only a couple have succeeded and that has cost them alot of time and money developing it. I nearly bought one myself about a year ago, glad I didn't now as the engine was stressed.

210-215 is probably the limit for a tuned nasp version with 270 cams. You can up this if you go the DTA route using 285 cams but gets very expensive. A quality charged version can reach 250 but at a cost. Turbo charging, forget it, you now know how much room there is in there!

The way to make the most of these cars is in the handling and weight reduction, the standard chassis is excellent already but with a few other mods, even better.

Stamford,

The car was original up for £1700, the cam belt change couldn't be verified so the new price was agreed. My local garage that looks after the 100R has quoted me £430 to fit the cambelt kit & a new water pump.

MA,
Yes I still have the 100R for the moment.

£430 for x3 belts and pump is a good price. I paid £350 for mine but the MGR specialist has sworn to never do another KV6 again! Just about every bolt was seized, he wasn't best pleased. I would also suggest you get a hold of 'sheddist' on xpowerforums and obtain one of his clutch slave/master kits. This will replace both master and slave plastic cylinders with Honda metal ones, also a small reservoir to enable bleeding and a beefy mounting bracket to replace the weak OE one. Comes with all pipes, fixings and a CD for around £148. Fit and forget.

So I guess you haggled this down to around £1200, if less then great! Some Xpart dealers still charge around £800-£1000 for that work!

If I were you I would seriously consider removing that Quaife ATB and putting it in the ZS! Should be the same, as both share the PG1 gearbox.

Yep, you definitely need to do the clutch, after deforming two of the soft plasticy bulkhead cylinder mounting brackets getting a sheddist clutch kit was the next thing on my list. Before I wrote the bloody thing off that is.
