And this is the simple version

Most bolts are fitted and tightened incorrectly, even by 'professional' garages. If a bolt is installed and tightened correctly there is no need to fit horrible spring washers, which actually do not work anyway.

Indeed. I always try to find the relevant information regarding torque settings for bolts.

There are two torques settings for each bolt, for dry and lubricated threads.
