Hi. Anyone know what degrees cams can be ground to without neccessatating dropping cam boxes and lengthening valves ? Going to be used for track use, but I want to stick with std valves.

Which engine is this for? Surely if you keep the cam lobe peak the same and just adjust the duration there will be no need to touch the valves.

Are you keeping to a 0.050-inch tappet lift in the peak RPM power band?

You are probably aware that having more lift doesn't always make more power and the engine compression and flow characteristics need to be taken into account when grinding the cam.

To gain more lift the base circle diameter is reduced and the tappet clearance must be adjusted so there is no need for longer valve stems.
For a longer valve opening duration @ TDC the opening and closing ramps of the lobes may need to be welded to add metal to be able to be re - ground to a different profile OR a blank billet cam can be ground to whatever specs you need

IF the motor has hydraulic tappets then no tappet adjustment is needed.
