BFF's Honda Accord

Hi Guys,
Thanks for all the kind coments and for making me feel so welcome,
my plans for the car, ultimatley a DOHC VTEC transplant but thats for another day, i'm not really one for big ostentacious bodykits, i prefer the subtle approach so a set of 18"s (i know i said subtle but they won't fill the arches completely) and some lowering springs and shocks will be the first thing to do as she already has the look of the Type R minus the boot spoiler. then will come the big brake conversion but apart from that i will pretty much leave her looking stock

Cheers Guys, progress will be slow but i will endeavor to keep you all updated

Fatty

Re: Fashionably late as always

Looks great, what style wheels do you have in mind for her? I think a set of white NSX style ones would look good. :D

Thanks Guys
I have been looking at some really nice Rota Spec R wheels in white in the TC Parts Shop that would look nice, There were several different style wheels on the NSX weren't there? I like the seven spoked ones myself they would also look good under my car, eighteens are probably a bit big for how i want the car to look eventually so I've changed my mind i'll go with something a little smaller (and cheaper!)

Fatty

p.s thanks to Turbonutter and Loz for sorting the pics out! Nice one

Re: Fashionably late as always

got some new standard spec headlights to replace the fogged up plastic lenses, just to tidy the front end up really, new xenon effect bulbs will be going in aswell for that extra bit of visability. i was looking for some morette twin headlights or some angel eyes but no one seems to make them for my car so OEM will have to do, makes a massive difference though the old ones were probably as old as the car

Have you bought those new Xenonmax bulbs form Ring? I've seen the ads for those & was contemplating buying a set. :)

Re: Fashionably late as always

I have had a search around and narrowed the selection down to these three, what do you guys reckon?

My BMW is (Hellrot) red. My boot was suffering from the dreaded fade but I was able to sort it with some AutoGlym paint restorer. It came out really well and I'll be doing it again when the sun comes back out.

using a good wax or sealant will help stop the fade. AG super resin will get alot of the colour back as well, and this can be used near enough weekly if you wanted as there is so little cut to it.

I'll have to check out the paint restorer, i actually work for Auto Glyms parent company so i get all their stuff cheap or free so i'm sorted in that department

I really like the colour of the Honda, never had a properly red car before, I had a mk6 Escort that was burgandy but that didn't fade at all, what is the reason for the colour fading anyway? and is it just red cars?

Nice cars and very underrated. Subtle mods would be best on that. The sporty ones looked good, limited numbers weren't they? Sort of deep purple in colour and running the VTec IIRC.

It does happen to clearcoated red cars. EP3 Civics are a prime example, once they fade you're screwed it's respray time.

It doesn't happen to cars with a UV resistant clearcoat.

The best way to tell is t-cut a area and when you buff it off if the rag turns red then it isn't lacquered;)
Nice car by the way:)

The fading of the car primary depends on the lack of protection on the car. Which is first Laquer then goes wax. Wax protects surfaces from UV influence, tree soak, (if that is how it is called). I actually had my friends Ford Probe polished, which originaly was faded horribly. Cars color looked more like pink rather than red.

But when i worked the surface with a gloss provided Compound the color was retained to it's original Formula red sort off, and the car had wonderfull deep wet look. Then i just worked it on with a good wax (in my case i used "Hard Candy" from the "Dodo Juice" company), and here You go, color remains as good as it was after treatment. Just occasional waxing is required as those waxes sit on paint for around 2 months if You wash the car in proper way (2 bucket system in my case).

P.S. If You need some help on how to get the car look better pm me or use this amazing resource www(dot)detailingworld(dot)com (forgive me if it is forbidden to provide other websites on here).

So hope You solve the fading problem. As well very handy thing is "paint gauge" to avoid polishing too much which can cause the severe paint damage which is only possible to be fixed by respraing.

With a DA and nothing too aggresive you'd have to be a reet div to break though the clearcoat. Not all wax is very UV resistant and as a result might not stop fading as well as it could. Ideally you want wax with a high UV resistance and one that lasts a while if you're not into your bufftying. Like the following:

http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/wax/collinite-no-476s-super-doublecoat-auto-wax/prod_207.html

As above detailingworld is worth checking out, loads of great advice.

To me they look like they slot over your original dampers. But replace your springs and allow for ride hight adjustment
Its hard to tell that much on my phone!

Lower your car by up to 4 inches and still get change from 50 quid :amazed:
Are they Elf's and Pixie's involved in this too? ;)

Great looking car there BFF.

For the rims........I would go in for the black ones though, if you ask me.

I am especially partial towards a black and red combination.

The white powder-coating would not match and mebbe stick out like a sore thumb on a car that spells elegance and understated power. The effect could be plasticky, fo lck of a better adjective.

Tell me, since I am a bit curious, what percentage opacity is your tint, and is it legal there?

I have 70% here and I get a lot of flak from the authorities.
