A company called GlobPresto Group (Belfast) has been referenced on a fake version of a TorqueCars site. There are a number of fake testimonials from members on here who have never had any dealings with the GlobPresto Group. We are currently pursuing legal action against the perpetrator.

If you have been involved with a car for sale and the GlobPresto Group name has been mention BEWARE. DO not part with your money and proceed with extreme caution.

If we get more information we will pass this on in this thread.

We DO NOT SELL CARS. We Do not have any dealings with a GlobPresto Group and have no basis at all for recommending them I am totally convinced this is a scam after doing some due diligence.

Some more info for those who might have been sucked into the GLOBPRESTO scam.

You'll find an ebay listing with a new seller with 0 feedback and a selection of great deals on prestige cars.

Always be wary of sellers which are new or with low feedback scores.

You'll then contact them and be told another company is advertising and handling this sale in this case it will be the GlobPresto Group. They will have a free phone number and require registration on their site.

You can arrange to "see the car and test drive" but unfortunately they are based in Dublin so it is unlikely people will bother but hey don't worry they say there is a 10 day money back guarantee if you don't like the car.

Send them the cash and wait for delivery of your new car which will never come. Overall you won't have anything to go on other than a fake company name GlobPresto group, an email address from the ebay seller which has only just been purchased and setup and a freephone number.

You may even search online to find out if this company is legitimate and you'll find lots of fake forum pages with glowing reports and reviews about them and people who were sceptical but had alleged deliveries. This is all fake. The posts in these fake forums are totally bogus!

Then they close the operation, and setup a new ebay account create a new fake company and create a fake online buzz about the company in more fake forum pages.

AVOID GLOBPRESTO GROUP LIKE THE PLAGUE.

You will not find any legitimate company information online about a "Globpresto group".

An ebay listing shows the address and company name on this listing as

GP CARS SALES LTD
Elliott Rd
Bournemouth
Dorset
BH11 8JW
United Kingdom

There is no listing at companies house for GP CARS SALES LTD

There is no reference to this company at this location on map or business listing.

It makes my blood boil that people can setup fake companies like Globpresto Group and scam people out of their hard earned money.

Hopefully people are more cautious and I hope these Globpresto scammers get everything they deserve.

I've done some digging too and totally agree with you, so many fake testimonials and nothing real. I couldn't find anything at that address either. Has anyone reported this one to ebay? Are they also listed anywhere else as Globpresto group or is that just a fake name for the scam testimonials they setup?

Here are some tips to help you avoid a car sales scam like Globpresto or GP CARS SALES LTD on eBay:

  1. Research the seller: Check the seller's feedback rating, reviews, and history on eBay. Look for any negative feedback, disputes, or complaints from previous buyers. If the seller has a high feedback rating and a good history, it's a good sign that they are trustworthy.
  2. Verify the seller's identity: Make sure the seller is who they claim to be. Look for a verified PayPal account or a seller who has completed eBay's ID verification process. You can also ask the seller for their phone number and call them to confirm their identity.
  3. Ask for detailed information and photos: Request detailed information about the car, including the make, model, year, mileage, and condition. Ask the seller for photos of the car from different angles, including the interior, exterior, and under the hood.
  4. Don't send money directly to the seller: Use eBay's secure payment system to make your payment. This will protect you from fraudulent sellers who may ask for payment outside of eBay. If the seller insists on a direct payment, it is likely a scam.
  5. Be wary of deals that seem too good to be true: If the price of the car is significantly lower than similar cars on the market, it could be a sign of a scam. Scammers often use low prices to lure in unsuspecting buyers.
  6. Don't rush into a purchase: Take your time and don't be pressured into making a quick decision. If the seller is pressuring you to make a purchase quickly, it could be a sign of a scam.
  7. Consider getting a third-party inspection: If you are buying a car sight unseen, consider hiring a third-party inspection service to evaluate the car's condition before you make a purchase. This will give you peace of mind and help you avoid buying a car with hidden problems.
By following these tips, you can protect yourself from car sales scams on eBay and ensure that you get a good deal on a reliable car.
