On tuesday I was supposed to have my car towed to the dealers to have them reprogram a new key for me. I found my keys so I don't need the new on anymore.

But both my water temp and oil temp gauges read low. Will the dealer charge me an arm and a leg to look into that?

I read that some audi dealers do free health checks, but will that be enough?

They often do "favours" for regular customers but I doubt they would offer a free check to an off the street walk in.

Sometimes it is more cost effective to pay a rip off main stealer price than try a number of cheap hit and miss guesses on various parts.

How low are you reading? When was the water pump last changed?

Today the performed the FREE health check as advertised. They were nice enough to provide me a laundry list of parts the need replacing. As for the gauges, water temp is just over 60 (maybe 65) and the oil temp is just a tic over the cold (far left) reading. They move so that leads me to think the are getting power, just not reading correct.

here is the list that the dealer supplied

Indicator bulbs seem pretty pricey! They have been pretty thorough though.

My temp rarely goes above 65 in this cold weather unless I'm in crawling traffic, I'm not sure about the Diesels but I'm pretty sure they run colder than a petrol.

its a £20 switch, some water and around 10 mins work

Oil temperature sender
£135.17 again £20 switch and a little oil

Service also due, estimate on request - looking around £200 id guess,

some of those prices are just mental
as for the temps, even when we were around -10 all day (-17 at night) i wqas still getting around 80 degrees for oil temp when cruising and 90 on the water sensor - although this shows 90 through a larger range of temps
