Hi all, wondering if you could give me a bit of help.

i have chosen the Aum engine to do my conversion i was wondering if the loom from the Agu is the same or would it need to be modified to work with my original fuse box and the engine.

My fuse box in the panel under the windscreen only carries 3 plugs where as the new loom for the Aum engine carries 5.

All advice would be gladly appreciated:D

Thanks to all

yeah

unfortunatly i havent reinstalled all my technical manuals on this computer so cant look too deep into it for you

i dont think the loom is the same as the agu engine is cable throttle and doesnt have a MAP sensor iirc
the AUM engine is electronic throttle and has map sensors so there wil be extra wiring for them as well

wouldnt have thought so, getting the new ECU to work with the current clocks would probably be the harder bit as the clocks, ECU and keys have to match

try and find a copy of ELSAWIN. its the full technical manuals on disc. i think audi is on 3 of them - the main program on one and the files on the other.

nope not at all.
doesnt help that the only way to read the ECU to change the immobilier's settings is using an serial elm cable, come on how many laptops still have serial ports fitted ? a usb one doesnt work, and i think the cheap usb - rs3232 converters confuse the program

theres a few folk up and down the country that will match them up for a small amount of money. which is next to nothing compared to what audi will want for the pleasure thats if they say it can be done.

VAG no longer have access to the SKC as they are car / time / date related. they can access a temp code that only works for a short time

Thanks all

I have now got hold of the auto electrician so he will be out on Wednesday.

When i explained what i wanted done he told me that it would be no problem due to having the clocks and key. it is only the engine loom that needs to be work on as i am not fitting a/c or anything extra so these cables can be closed off.

i will upload some pictures tommorow of the work in progress.

thanks for all the information.

Keep us up to date with your project as well, we like to see what people are getting up to with their cars. (especially PICS!)

Thanks all

There i was waiting for wednesday to come oh the joy of Betsy getting back on the road.

Recieved a call from the electrician yesterday night saying that he had to cancel
so obviously i was p'd off but he said that he will call me today to let me know what was happening. so no progress as off yet i cant believe how simpe little things can set back a project for days at a time if not careful.

i am still awaiting the call back from the sparky if anyone knows a good sparky in the brum area could you let me know please i have had enough of broken promises.

pics will be uploaded today

Thanks for all the support.

would it be hard to convert a fly by wire to cable.

all info would be appreciated

PGARNER

thanks for all you assistance i think when the sparky comes out tommorow i will be asking him a lot of questions so will hopefully be able to help out there also with other engine conversions.

Thanks

if i get a chance and iff its a nice day ill try and have a look at mine tomorrow (auq and aum are the same engine just different map) as still have my tip to fit at some point

Jumping for Joy

sparky got back to me.

i only think that he called me back due to me looking elsewhere and ended up phoning him on his land line work number after 5 mins of talking realised that it was him.

So then he said that he would call me back so about three Hours went by then my phone rang and low and behold it was the Sparky saying that he could fit me in for tomorrow after noon i did not hesitate to say yes as my mate highly recommended him so tomorrow again should be a productive day.

if not i think i am going to give it a break for a week then hit it head on.

Thanks
Audi98

so would i be able to use the AUQ loom with the AUM ecu or would i have to change other parts ie Ecu, Clocks ETC

All help appreciated

Big thanks to PGARNER

Audi98:D

should be, i think its only a different way of running the vac lines in the AUQ

kicked the wife off the laptop.
AUM and AUQ engines share the same loom only different suffix between the 5 spd gearbox and 6 spd ones

what fmic have you gone for??

and you cant tell the difference between the k03 and the k03s by sight they look identical! its the internals that are different. so you will need to post up the part number;)

it is from racebits who specialise in performance parts for a range of vehicles.

eventually will be turning into track day car but for now a subtle 270-280bhp will suffice

Audi98

i will get back to you on the part number

Thanks for the hel

this is what the front would look like

did the fmic come with a map sensor pipe??

if your after 270hp the k03s isnt capable of this unless you hybrid it;)

yeah i know

and no i did not get the map sensor pipe i think i will have to make one or does anyone know where i can get one from

what turbo do you think i shoud get garret is looking good right now

thanks
Audi98:D

is that oem bora xenons in that pic or just aftermarket angel eyes ?

dont see the point in the turbo timer, as you could just let the car idle for a few mins after a hard drive.

garret is the normal route, however the Ukmkivs have build a bora track car and decided to stick with the k03s at its max of 240, with a custom map they have got that and close if not over 300ftlb of torque

Pgarner

the headlights are aftermarket headlights which i got off ebay

And Herb cheers mate for that link very useful as there was actually another part that i needed and found on there so thanks again.

Just got the call from the sparky so im off to meet up with him i will also take some pics of the actual car to let you see the beast in the making.

Thanks for all your help guys very helpful.

Thanks

dam after a set of genuine ones for sensible money

if your going for 270 id go with the gt28. you need to change the same things for the K04 however it would be stronger and allow you more room for improvement in future if you wanted it

I think that i'm going to wait a while

Make sure that the car is running properly for at least 6 months this will also give me time to save some pennies

yeah good news from the sparky today he has told me that he will be able to do the job however he will not be able to start until Tuesday so hopefully she will be roaring again i'm so excited I have goose bumps.

he is charging me a very good rate per hour. roughly gonna take a day and a half or so. hopefully less.

Thanks for all your advice
stupid me forgot to take the pics i will do it tomorrow on my lunch break.

Thanks
Audi98:bigsmile:

Again realy sorry didn't have chance to pop out on my lunch to get the pics but will be done tomorrow as i will be at the garage all day.

please forgive me everyone

Thanks

Leave it with me mate i might be able to get you a pair for reasonable price i will speak with my pal tomorrow as they strictly break VW/Audi.

when i find out i will pm you.

Thanks

good luck, ive been on the look for several years, by the time youve got the lights, ballasts and levelling plates your looking around £700. can get them alot cheaper from germany but they are LHD so beam pattern is all off.

shame so many bora owners didnt tick that £1300 option

hi all

first off my apologies to all for not updating.

so the electrician came out and told me that i would have to get all sensors and wiring in place so that when he next comes he can just get on with it.

i will be adding pics tomorrow as i cant find my usb lead for my phone.

hopefully the mini monsta will be on the road in the next week.

Sparky is back out tomorrow to finish off then fitting the front back on and so forth.

My apologies again

my mate did actually have a pair but like u said stupid money sold for 600 with ballast.

it really does surprise you how much people are willing to pay for simple things

Audi98:bigsmile:

Ok so basically over the last week i have been fabricating a bracket to mount the pedal which i finished installing yesterday.

i will upload a pic so u can see exactly what i have done.

today i finished welding up the exhaust and replacing any pipes that i thought may be damaged.

all in all have had a productive week. Finally at the finishing stages now once the electrician has done his part everything can be fitted back up.

Piping for the inter cooler is going to be fun the amount of curves is ridiculous but hey you got to do what you got to do.

Audi98:bigsmile:

Looks all good to me there mate, intercooler is a nice size (ie massive!!) a Garrett conversion could be good as there are inherantly more reliable, but it's only worth it if going a lot bigger, like GT28/Gt30 bigger really,

ok so finally here it is i have found my usb lead.

so as promised here is a few pics of how far we have got. one more visit from the electrician to finish off and ready for test run.

sorry for the wait folks but here goes: 1st pic is my pride and joy just after finishing the exhaust.

2nd pic is of the frount mount when we started fitting it.
3rd pic is a better angle of front mount.
4th pis is fitting the bumber and marking it.
5th pic is after we finished fitting the inter cooler and headlights after removing the bumper.

Thanks for all the supprt

pic six is after fitting the bumper back on. this was all done yesterday while is was messing about working on another car.

once the sparky`s finished off to see what she is pushing and for a remap, im ecstatic at this point in time and i cant help but fell HAPPY.

A man told me that he had been at a conversion for two years nearly now. My response you dont know what your doing. why should a conversion take so long if you pre plan like i did. 2 months max depending on your papers if you catch my drift.

Thanks for all the support.

THE LAST FEW PICS ARE OF THE MOUNTING PLATE THAT HAD TO BE WELDED INSIDE THE CAR TO MOUNT THE PEDAL.
