Hi guys;

I'm new to this forum. So, please bare with me.

I want to purchase a 2000-2003 accord type R for a tuning experiment.

Can anyone advise on what can be done to modify the car to achieve at least 500BHP.

Engine Mods:
Exhaust/Induction kits:
Handling|Break/Discs etc:

I would appreciate a list of things I can safely do to the car to improve the BHP output as well as improving handling and stability. If you have part names etc and where to buy them from, that would be great. Tried and tested methods are welcome. Price is no issue for me so let it rip....

Thanks in advance.
Ali.

500bhp will require massive changes as you looking at nearly a 300bhp increase.

you aint easily going to see that without forced induction

full engine strip down and rebuilding with low compression and a nice turbo fitted will give you a good gain

Hi and welcome to TorqueCars its nice to have you along. I look forward to seeing how your project takes shape - it sounds really interesting. As Pgarner says forced induction is the way to go. The Type R engine will give the best base to work from. You might also get a supercharger kit instead of a turbo for this. Obviously you will have to increase the fuel injectors and fuel pump. I've seen a supercharged Lexus putting down around 500 bhp so believe it is acheivable but there is so much work involved.

Cheers for the response guys. Anyone know of any good tunings companies that specialise on the R Types honda's?

May need some advice on this from a specialist. Waynne - indeed it is a challenging task, but, it will be worth it once I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Depends where you are from? There was a UK company called Jakan - a Honda tuning specialist however I don't think they are around anymore. You might be able to track down the guys that ran it.

Also have a chat with SVA imports in Folkestone (tell them TorqueCars sent you) and they will have a look at options like importing specialist parts like a Spoon engine :) :) :) They did a 1000bhp Skyline and frequently get really highly tuned cars through their doors.
