Hi,
Can anyone help.
I am just rebuilding a ford escort 1.6 16v 90hp engine.
On fitting the cam belt, it seems quite loose from the crank to the exhaust cam.
My Autodata details show the crank pulley lined up with a raised pointer in the sump.
If I check no1 cylinder, this is not at TDC, the crank needs another 1/8 turn for this (clockwise).
The cams are locked with a locking bar, so I know they are in the correct position.
So, should the engine crank pulley be lined up with the timing mark, or should I set it to TDC before fitting the belt.
Any help to solve this confusion would be grateful.
