02 9-3 Viggen Conv
I have an 02 9-3 Viggen and I want to make a good car better. I want to try and make the suspension better and I would like to tweak some more power from the engine. I am not familiar with new cars as all the cars I have ever worked on are antiques, ie 58 Edsel, so I am really a novice but hey everyone has to start somewhere. Does any one have any suggestions to make? thanks.

I have to agree here with magicaljake. A remap will give the biggest power gain for the lowest amount of money. Find a remap specialist near you and ideal get a custom remap done with the car on a rolling road.

If you want the handling sorted, I had my 2001 9-3 hatchback suspension changed. Abbottracing did me some lowered springs and a set of koni adjustables and also a steering rack clamp and brace. I then went to Elkparts and replaced the rear anti-roll bar with a much sturdier 22mm thick bar. Now I have a really good handling car. Next is a tuning box as this car cannot be remapped although a company in Yorkshire say they can modifiy the chip....Viggens are nice but very rare in the uk.

Thats a shame I thought most OBDII cars can be remapped! ;) I guess another option is to replace the ECU with something like megasquirt or Apexi Power FC ecus.

Hi. My engine is the G.M 2.2 tid engine, the later one with ecu ontop of the pump. In standard form this engine produces 125 bhp and 280 n/m of torque. It pulls really well from just below 2000 rpm but thats it from then on as maximum torque is already there.

hi the ecu flash from bsr/ppc stage 1 would be best way to go on more power £550 for 44bhp 70nm torque a smile will be on ur face for sure.saabs are brill with some tuning 350bhp easily got from viggen a must if u ask me

Ok Well congrats on having a viggen...very rare. You can replace the ECU, I would recommend http://www.genuinesaab.com/catalog/...d=193&osCsid=2d1e3dac004befb743c32b3316f91500 . Look around the site if thats not the exact one you want to do.

Also, the suspension itself should be rather good...but if you want to replace it there are great springs and damper kits on that site, although rather expensive. The anti sway bar is on there as well, along with the steering kit, you will greatly reduce torque steer and be able to put the power down rather clean.

Good luck let me know how it goes i am currently working on my Saab now.
