'66 Bonneville - How do i torque this thing?

I own a 1966 pontiac bonneville and need some help ...the hex nut keeping the power steering pulley on its shaft on the pump is a 'slotted hex nut' of some sort - i believe they are self tightening so they won't fall of the rotating shaft?

Anyway - question is this - what's the correct way to unscrew and then torque back on a moving/revolving shaft? I'm worried about damaging the shaft/power steering pump if i hold/clamp/or do something datft...

Any help would be most apprectaied!
