ok i have recently just got a 94 300zx n/a and have had the dream to single turbo it i have a spare engine that im currently tearing down for this build. first question how do i lower the compression? i have a pretty good idea on how to but i need more opinions. second i know i need foeged bottom end is there any brands that are the best so far iv been leaning to wiesco or what ever it is. third head wise what should i do i plan on caming it and lifters and #!#!#!#! but open to more options ....

this build will take along time and i know that but if im ganna do it im ganna do it right the first time. id rather spend 2-3 years on this build and do it right then half a year and have to pull it out an do it again welcom to all comments an posts for the z32

Greetings and a Warm Welcome to our TorqueCars Forum my Friend!

Good to have you along with us :)

Turbocharging a N/A engine will cost an awful lot of dollars buddy, I am not at my usual PC otherwise I would have posted a very informative link from our own website which will help to explain things to you more clearly. If your lucky then this post will be picked up by somebody soon who will know about the link I am talking about, failing this I will add it to here later on when I get home for you.

It may be easier to pull a turbo engine from another car. I am quite sure Nissan's 3.0 L VG30ET V6 from their 80's 300zx (z31) Turbos would fit. I've seen your model z32 (twin turbo though) just barely stuffed into a z31 with little modifications. So I have a feeling it will fit in your z32. I don't know how the entire heating, cooling and other systems will work. You may have to drop them entirely.

If you want to keep everything, why not get a turbo engine from another z32 and put it in (aside from it not being a single turbo)? Also, I have a feeling there are turbo kits for that car, if you decide to go down that road. Although, I can say that the z31 has no intercooler to fuss with. (I owned one, loved it.)

JDM twin turbo engine, save the money and headeache, upgrade HP to whatever you want, safest on these cars are 500-650HP for best performance!

From what I have seen and been told by a specialist ZX shop it is easier to drop the engine out to work on them as there is next to no space around them.
IF you are going to change motors then I would look at an RB25/26/30 swap as there would/should be way more space around the motor but do not know if it will fit under the hood/bonnet.

FWIW if you don't mind a different make of motor then a Toyota 2jz is a better choice than an RB IMHO

as the thread is going again..............

Much as I like RBs , (ok obsessed is nearer) you dont want one in a ZX.

Whilst you can undoubtably get more power from an RB the ZX will make around 550 with cams and turbos and will stay together with a stock motor as long as it is properly mapped.

Supra motors etc wont work as the twin turbo Zx has the awd attessa and often the HICAS stering which you really dont want to chuck away.

90’ N/A Fairlady jacked for ten years I bought from my father last month. I am in need of a shelter/garage to work on it what is there a best and best value? I also would like to know what to look for once I pull the engine, rebuild kit? I’m does anyone have a working HICAS system?
