1988 ford ranger 4x4

I have a 2.9 no egr system. [stock] I have maintained this truck to a "T"
But have always had Nox problems. With the new more strick EPA standards my only route is looking into water injection to cool the combustion chamber. Which brand works to solve this problem
well without killing my pocket book. I have been ASE certified a long
time and see no other solution.

not sure on the water injection but does the ranger have a CAT on it ? i thought the cat was supposed to help deal with the NO

Yes it has a double cat with pre and post cat o2 sensors. I was inquiring
about an alcohol water injection to cool the combustion chamber.
high combustion chamber temps. are the main cause of NOX being
out of spec. [ low octane,timing to high,bad cat. vacuum leak ect...
Which is'nt the case on my truck.
