It is actually really hard to turbo an older diesel engine. It is actually eaiser to perform an engine swap to another TD engine. As diesels use compression to ignite the fuel and a turbo can cause many problems if not done properly.

Adding NOS is a good cheap alternative. I'll have a think for you. What is your aim - more power or more fun and driver experience?

well i would just like a bit of extra power because the car is rather slow. i think it clocks 0 - 60 in around 17 seconds and i would just like it to be slightly faster. what sort of engines can be swapped into it and how much could that cost? and thanx for the help :D

The 106 and Citreon Saxo share many parts - I would't be surprised if you could put a SAXO VTS engine in there - let's see what Freddie has to say on this.

The engine swap cost would depend a lot - try local scrapyards for details of engine prices and then allow about £500 or so for labour. Putting in a slightly bigger 106 engine would be easier than going to another model for engines. I'll do a bit of asking around and see what your best options are.

There are many options for an engine conversion..

The engines in [ ] are all Citroen engines..

1.3 (Rallye S1 & 2)
1.4 (XSI, Aztec, Quicksilver [Westcoast])
1.6 (XSI, 16V GTI [VTR])

And then theres the silly ones

2.0 (GTI-6 [Xsara VTS])

But if I were you I'd just go for a shorter ratio gearbox. I'm not 100% sure but I think Diesels have the longest gearbox available. I'll have to have a little look around to see if I can find the ratios for you some other time.
