Hey everyone, my first post. :)
Ive just bought a 1991 100NX with the GA16DS engine,
the 1.6 (obviously) DOHC 16v Carburetor fed engine...

I'm intending to do some mild tuning, I cant help but play with cars.
I was wondering if it would be worth swapping over to EFi,
involving swapping the manifold and accessories etc...

The cylinder heads are the same its just gonna be a bit of a pi55take,
to swap everything over to EFi. The standard carbed engine produces
89hp, and the EFi engine 102.

Would it be better in the long run to swap to EFi as the mods would take more of an effect?

Its gonna be a full days work swapping over the bits, and buying them in
the 1st place, just for a 13bhp increase...

Also anyone tuned one of these engines before and know of any parts
that are compatible from the other breeds of Nissan, eg: Primera, Sunny.

Cheers,
Will.

For all that work swapping things over why don't you just drop a 2 litre engine in there instead. You'll get alot more gains that way and it will be easier to tune up when installed.
Hello and welcome by the way.

Didn't think of that. :)
Would increase to about 150bhp...
With ALOT more tuning potential, what do you suggest? An SR20?

Also wondering, how easy is it to get performance parts for a SR20 engine,
not a DET just N/A.
I mean things like 4-2-1 manifolds and performance cams etc..
Cheers,
Will

Yes I would definitely recommend the SR20 motor. I had a Primera not so long ago and there was plenty of places available for parts. It can get expensive but when you ask for more BHP it tends to swallow your wallet anyway.

Cars are probably the most expensive hobby you can have. :)

How much do you think id be looking at paying for a decent or rebuild SR20 engine with all the ancillaries and loom?

Also how much does a full body prep and respray cost roughly for a car like mine?
im thinking deep gloss black, the engine swap ill do myself no prob but paintwork isnt my thing really...

You'd better better off trying to source a whole car. Then you take off what you need and sell the rest.
As for the respray. It's hard to say. Each garages tend to charge differently. If you want a good finish though you'd prob be looking at £500 plus.
