1.5 TFSi engine performance / remap

Hi!
Has anyone got any advice as to who to use to remap my engine management system? I have a 2018 A3 Sport 1.5 TFSi which is supposed to deliver 150BHP. The torque curve is limited and certainly doesn't feel as though there's 150BHP under your right toe. I test drove an older 1.4 A3 which performed much better.

The 1.5 uses the COD (cylinder on demand) system which gives reasonable economy figures but poor acceleration. It also has a habit of kangarooing when starting in first gear if you're not quick enough to catch it by slipping the clutch/more revs. Despite repeated visits for upgrades to my Audi dealer it became apparent that they don't have a fix for these problems.

I've looked on line at one or two specialists for remaps but some of them don't list this engine while they do list almost every other engine, particularly the TFSi range.
Would be very interested to hear of anyone else's experience, advice, solutions.

Check you've not got carbon build up, that can rob quite a bit of power. It depends on the overall mileage and if you do short journeys.

APR are the goto people for Audi Maps, and Celtic tuning can offer a rolling road setup for best results, the 1.5 is a bored out 1.4 so there is little difference between them, but they are newer engines and demand for remaps doensn't usually happen until they are around 4-5 years old. So there should be some more options out there.

Have it been set to economy mode in the dashboard engine controls, that makes it feel quite sluggish and it's quite easy for this setting to be turned on without realising the impact it has on performance.

How long have you had this car?

I've had the car for 2 years now (18 plate) and its done just over 15,000 miles + is petrol so wouldn't think carbon build up would be too much of a problem. Have been doing more short journeys during lockdown but usually get up to full working temperature.
I don't think the 1.4 has the COD system which is what I suspect is the problem or has it?
Good point about checking the economy setting - will check this.
Thanks for the recommendations about APR and Celtic Tuning - will contact them.

My 1.4 has COD but not all have, it's mainly the 150bhp versions.

The direct injection petrols do suffer from carbon build up, but they are ironing out this issue, so it's unlikely to be a problem for a good long while.

I have been told that some manufacturers have woken up to the carbon buildup in DI,TFDI & TSFI badged cars and have port as well as cylinder injectors.

FYI I add a measured dose of injector cleaner to both of my cars every fill.

Yes that is correct, Audi are using the port injection to help the cars warm up cycle. Its only a recent thing though, but they needed to do something. Sadly mine is purely direct injection, but it does burn very very cleanly so there is little soot anywhere so far - the exhaust still looks like new inside.

I have the 1.2tsi engine, I put a bottle of system cleaner through every 3000 miles with a tank of 99Ron fuel and give it good hard run, which she gets quite frequently, 1000 miles this last week.... I wonder if your management system isn't switching cylinders just at the right moment, perhaps milliseconds out and it's causing the whole shebang to stumble over itself.

I'm not ofay with the COD System but I can see where and why it may have issues.

Where abouts in the country are you? I'm thinking tuning shops now.....

Many thanks for all your replies.
Will have a go at using cleaner to see if that helps.

Am in Lancashire.
Stay in touch here, it will be interesting to see what you discover. I wondered if you could map-out the COD so it runs on all four.... Just a thought?

See the problem is typical and it's hard to find the genuine advice / solution from someone in the market but online you may search various solutions. Until you do a test yourself, you won't get the result you need. So keep yourself busy and get it done plus it will also give the first knowledge which either way you aren't going anywhere else.
