Adding NoS nitrous oxide to boost power gains.

That's because NOS is the name of the company. All capital letters.

How to lower the engines compression ratio

Thicker head gasket is the first thing that comes to mind. Polishing the cumbustion chambers also will remove a small amount of metal and enlarge them. You can recess the valves a bit also. Stuff like that can move the compression around up to a point (ratio point).

Is E85 fuel available in the UK

That's all we have. It sucks. The alcohol they put in has less energy than the gas it displaces, so your mileage and power levels go down. That's only the beginning of the problems though. Alcohol attacks aluminum! All aluminum, carbs, intakes, heads...you name it. Alcohol also has the nasty...

Forged or Cast crank and rods which is better

Forged will be stronger than cast. It will also be a bit lighter. It will also cost a lot more. It cast is strong enough for your use, that's all you need. I have drag raced big block Mopars using a cast crank, in the right application at the right power levels. If you are in there anyway, and...

piston ring end gap 90 Ford 302

"The oil rings are usually pre-fit, as long as you order them for your bore size. Gap the compression rings at 0.016-0.018 for a 4.00 bore, 0.018-0.020 for a 4.030 bore. Go about 2-4 thousandths bigger if you plan on running boost or nitrous." Google is your friend. URL to Ford forum...

    VW Beetle Engine Help/Options??

I'm speaking from the States, so....we had VW vans over here with 3L motors. The 3 liter motor can bolt right up in place of the smaller one, the stronger trans also. Then a set of dual port heads and you can easily put 300HP to the tires. I've seen 1/8mile drags here in San Diego with a VW...

Will a car run without a battery

The alternator HAS to provide more power than needed to run the car, otherwise it couldn't charge the battery.

Increase engine displacement with a rebore.

Thanks for throwing me a bone :) It is a different world. But you can still stroke centimeters, and only bore millimeters. That was what I was trying to state. You can get more from stroking than you can from boring, in displacement increase. I never considered availability of parts...oops.

    Hello

I'd like to put coil overs and better brakes on it. But it is my daily driver also, with a 10 year warranty, so I can't do much. Maybe add a CAI and cat back system. Nothing until next year at the earliest though, I just bought it in September.

Increase engine displacement with a rebore.

Ya, I should be careful in choosing my words. My point was also maybe based upon American V8's and not the motors we are talking about here. In that world you can stroke the motor an inch easily, but the bore is limited to at most .125 inches. Never was way too strong for sure. You're examples...

Can someone explain what core shift is

If, like me you don't like getting your answers from UTube... When you cast a block, they have to put "cores" in the mold to take up the space where the bore for instance is going to be. The cores keep the metal from flowing into that part of the mold. They can be moved a bit when the metal...

    Safe Nitrous Boost

There is only one way to answer that question. What is the peak cylinder pressure before damage? What shot keeps you below that level? You need to do some math. It won't be a HP number, it will be pressure/volume of NOS.

Increase engine displacement with a rebore.

You never bore a motor to increase it's displacement, you stroke them. Bores can only be increased thousands, stroke inches. Bore x stroke, which gets you a bigger motor faster?

Engine Balancing – balancing pistons, rods and crank.

I knew an old guy (when I wasn't) who owned a Union gas station, and ran the Aliese (spell?) Race Team. Off road racing using VW's. He rebuilt, stock components, a 1600. Blue printed it to the drawings and it would pull the front end off the ground in second gear. Blue printing gives you the...

Stage 1, 2 and 3 tuning mods explained

OK, Stage 1 is outside the engine...intake, exhaust. Stage 2 mild cam changes, et cet Stage 3 big cam changes, port work, compression Mild to wild, in stages of easy bolt on, just a bit inside the engine and give it all you got. That's how we called them in the 70's with our Detroit muscle. Tim

    Hello

Hi, just signed up. I'm Tim, and live in San Diego, CA. I drive a 2015 Optima LX. I put some nice 18x8 wheels from American Racing and some Falkan 235's. So far the only other mod is a strut tower brace. Tim
