306 ,lowered,16" wheels off a 407 ,currently on 205/40/17 but rub ,options are sell the wheels and tyres or,put the old wheels back on 14" 106 gti ones ,or is anyone selling a set that wont rub cheers all

I have a 306 xs 1.8 16v ,3 door,lowered all round,usual mods,and reciently added new wheels,problem is the wheels are 16" with 205/40/16 tryes and ive been told to fit spacers,kicker is the front has little room until the tyres hit the arches ,the rear could be ok with 20 mm spacers ,any advice...
