    Back from supersprint at Wakefield

Hopen to improve rear down force, but know there is going to be trade off with increased drag, so am going to start working on increased HP first, and want to also fit an air dam/splitter to front which I'm going to have a go at making my self. Do you have any comments on down force over drag??

    Back from supersprint at Wakefield

Hey everyone, got the car to Wakefield Park Supersprint last weekend and managed another PB if only by .22 of a second, now at 1:13:25 and will be trying to get into the 12's next event. Toyo's are 2 years old now and even thought they still have life left in them I imagine they are quite a...

    Most Fun Road

Hi again everyone, my fav road is this Hillclimb which is public road for 364 days of the year. This is my 1st run up the hill for the day and I ended up hitting the kerb out of the last corner, ended up with a 37:52 which put me 12th out of 80, but had to put the car on the trailer and take...

    My Mitsubishi GTO

Love the idea of gullwings but they are extremely heavy and my aim is to get the car as light as possible, so am looking at CF and Lexen in the future but have to be carefull as it could put me up into Sports Sedans which is basically space frame chassis with body skins, hard to compete with that.

    My Mitsubishi GTO

No cage was forward and down off the rear seat shelf where it was installed so there was room to finish the welds around the top bars, as its too close to body work to weld in position, will take some more pics of final location. I am unsure what colour to paint it though, have got paint same...

    My Mitsubishi GTO

With the advent of remote tyre pressure monitoring from within the car, which alot of race teams are doing now some rim manufacturers are installing two valves so you can install system on one and fill with other. Another reason is nitrogen filled tyres its easier to purge out the O2.

Re: At Last!. I have started on my car ;-) Thats impressive you should have a really competitive car, what other cars will you be competing with?

At Last!. I have started on my car ;-) PART 2

Hi OG, you seem to know a bit about building race cars so will fire a question to you. I have thought about removing the alternator all together as a weight/horse power gain and running off the battery for shorter races ie. supersprints and charging battery up between races and jump...

At Last!. I have started on my car ;-) PART 2

I used to own a 1970 Mk1 1558 cc Lotus Escort that had twin 45mm side draft carbs, factory L1 cams and factory extractors and used big valve head off the Super Seven. It was no where near wild and produced 175 bhp so 190 from the Elan doesnt seem far fetched. Go Lotus a car well before its time

At Last!. I have started on my car ;-) PART 2

Re: At Last!. I have started on my car ;-) I like the way you rumble, I also make as much of my own parts as I can, do you have any idea of bhp you will have when finished?

    Suspension settings?

Sorry was also going to say have just purchased a VIO HD pov camera so will have video in future. Next meeting is on 29th Jan, its regularity, have to nominate a time from a practice session then stay as close to that time as you can, accumulate points for being slower or quicker, car at end...

    Suspension settings?

Thanks Stamford, have been keeping a log of tyre temps and pressure settings and most of our laps are timed so as you say will have to start recording shock settings. It is a very time consuming excersize as you dont want to make too many changes at once, then you dont know what worked

    Suspension settings?

Hi Guys, does any one know alot about rebound and dampening settings? I have coil overs that are 32 increment adjustable, was wondering what difference hard to soft is going to make, ie. wet to dry conditions Also different track scenario's Probably silly question but I cant really feel any...

Hi Krystal, in answer to your question about the radiator hose I have been racing my NA GTO for 3 years now and it is still running original hose from factory, so no its not a common problem, What year is your car? and is it TT or NA? Is it easy to get parts for in NZ as I'm in Oz and its...

Hello all you fellow car enthusiasts

Thanks for the advice guys, have been away for the weekend and didnt get a chance to reply earlier. Plans for the car are to get it under 1:10:00's at Wakefield park a local race circuit where at present my best time is 1:14:03. I dont really have any ideas for flashing up the car as it is...

    Best Track day tyres

Hi Guys, I raced on Toyo Proxes R888 Semi slicks (road legal) and they are amazing, they have improved my lap time conciderably over high performance road tyres. They are expensive but are cheaper than Advan AO48's AO50's which are excellent grip tryes too. Price also depends on your tyre size...

Hello all you fellow car enthusiasts

Hey Mates, not really up on the forum stuff, so dont know if I'm replying to one post or all of them, but thanks for the comments, For some stupid reason the Australian Gov will only give compliance to the TT model and the NA can only be imported into Aust as "parts race/rally use only" so I...

Hello all you fellow car enthusiasts

Hi, 3 years ago I brought a 1994 Mitsubishi GTO, it came into Aust for race/rally use only and have been using it in hill climbs and supersprints when I have the time and money to do so. Am quite pleased with the cars performance as it is NA at present and for such a heavy car it handles...
