why should they not suffer as i have muhahaha. Ordered the new starter should see it tomorro hopefully that will work and make it usable. The automatic starter has teeth exposed past mounting point as ring gear is on gearbox side of flywheel. Manual ring gear is on engine side of flywheel and...

I may have found out why the starter motor intermittently doesnt work. Turns out I may have an automatic starter motor rather than a manual one. I will spend this evening crawling about pulling the starter motor off. YAY :(

    MY current capri project

Well T9 at 1200 quid i won't be getting into their gallery. Will probably rebuild the system when i take of the road next month. Gonna get an lsd and get the axle rebuilt. Might invest in some new springs as under hard braking does wallow around rather than sitting solid on the road.
  11. C

    MY current capri project

Yes its still going. Its now on the road as you can see in the video on youtube (previous post) just trying to get it into a dyno before i do anything too more serious.

Had a fettle with the carb at the weekend took it into work to check emissions due to age for mot i am allowed 4.5% co at idle tested found that it was 0.28% and 0.79% left and right banks respectively. No wonder it doesnt like pulling away after being sat in traffic. Set now to 2.8-2.9% on both...

Damn right. Have since invested in a new carb and now under full load it smokes out of one side of the exhaust. (AHHHHHHHHRGH) However went to an american car show at the weekend and got a few ideas on how things should fit. THere is also a video one of my customers sent me up on youtube (yes...

If I do take it apart does antone on here know what sort of oil SHOULD be in a lsd? And does it depend on the type of lsd?
  18. C

    MY current capri project

Well I do have hauser racing lined up to put in a torque thrust lsd into the diff loader if I find it doesnt have a lsd or to rebuild it if I do have one. That is gonna cost me about £700 either way. I know I should get it apart and checked but after everything that has gone on with this car can...

    MY current capri project

Well did a hard launch from the lights and it kicked the back end across to one side and just tore of down the road. I am getting more convinced it has got lsd but not sure what oil is in there have the feeling ep90 was put in as was all I had. Think that might be the cause of the lsd...

Failed the MOT with a two pager :( Emissions noise seatbelt wheels leaks lights switches But got them all sorted out and now drivable. Got the usual runnings in issues and found that the timing I had set at 5 degs btdc with vacuum should be 10 degs btdc without vacuum. Sounds much more...

Well drove here to work this morning for the MOT will keep you apprised of what happens. I will leave this one with you guys though:- If a V8 Capri does 60mph at 1600 rpm how fast will it go at 4800 rpm? :)

So pretty :). Excuse me I have just had a crisis. Loving the chrome charger bet that's a bitch to clean. I have upset one of the other guys at work who has been trying to put a rover 3.5 V8 into his Sierra since before I started mine.

    MY current capri project

Well I read the part of the manual as I see fit. The whole thing with MOT's it that it is down to testers discretion. As a tester myself if a vehicle was presented to me with HID's fitted aslong as they were fitted safely and where fitted the systems worked I would pass it, but everyones...

Well what seems to be a victory is happening in my lttle world atm. The clutch seems to now work (will have to get it down off the stands again and check it). I have had my new gauges turn up and after a little bit of wirting and general fiddling have got two of them mounted and one working...

    MY current capri project

Well the book states that if HID system are fitted there should be self levelling and cleaning systems aswell and where these are fitted they must work. the pattern will not be an issue because it is created by the glass rather than the reflector like on the new cars and as my car has never had...

Cheers dude. Ran into a slight problem today though, tested out the clutch and either the clutch is knackered which it can't be because it's new or there is something stopping the clutch from disengaging fully, because when letting of the clutch in gear with the handbrake on nothing happens...

    MY current capri project

Indeed Olley 10 points. I figured that as I now have a 5.0 with a t5 world class gearbox going to a mustang rear axle it would be a good idea to put some slightly bigger tyres under the rear to aid grip. So instead of the 195/50/15 I have at thet front I went to 225/60/15 for the rear and the...

Right then got a bit more work done heading towards having the propshaft made up. Had to modify a fuel pump banjo to fit the in line uprated pump into the standard tank pump mount. Turned down the banjo on my lathe so that I could make it fit directly into the fuel line. Had the 'new' alloys...

Hey guys, thanks for the support. Have been really busy at work since we started doing MOT's but have been spending as much time as I can trying to get bits and pieces done on the car. Not really, having lots of set backs recently however in the last few days have had a few small victories. Hello guys, haven't been around for a while. Amazed to see over 1000 views on this. Have had a few issues as listed below. 1, Having fitted the clutch and spigot bearing found that the gearbox then sat in a different place which caused the starter to jam burning out to starter solenoids. So I...

Well this is a pic of the kevlar friction plate which I put next to a standard astra clutch to give you an idea how big it was but probably best to gauge it against the microwave lol.
