Not quite correct, Only flat-plane crank V8's require balancer shafts.

The only Escalade I'm aware of is the Cadillac Escalade; is that what you are refering to? If it is then the model year (and engine type) would be needed before any answer can point you in the right direction. Your location also might help a bit.

"In some parts of South America, Asia, Eastern Europe and the Middle East, leaded gasoline is still in use. Leaded gasoline was phased out in sub-Saharan Africa effective 1 January 2006. A growing number of countries have drawn up plans to ban leaded gasoline in the near future. However, in...

Cam questions - getting my head round them

There's two ways of quoting cam details. 1] Advertised or Total duration. 2] Duration @ 0.050" or 1.27mm Advertised duration is usually taken from .006" tappet lift (most manufacturers, afaik) or .004" duration. In an attempt to have a standard (to compare apples with apples) .050" tappet...

That's because, Like with any turbo-charged engine, you can vary the boost at the twist of a valve. Basic principles of more air/fuel are the same for improving N-A engines also.

Are rolling roads just for bragging

A minority I would think, Use them for what they are, as a valuable tuning tool that is certainly repeatable to within 5hp every-time when the operator knows what he's doing. Munday, I agree with your initial sentiment; though as far as different readings on different days....a dynamometer has...

    weight question?

That would depend on the power, a car would have. Power to weight is always the initial equation. But not the only way. Changing a cars diff gearing can do much the same without altering weight or power. As a rough rule of thumb though, every 10kgs is worth 2hp.

    2002 e46 330i power loss

Try dis-connecting the maf-sensor and see if it makes any difference. These sometimes when faulty or dirty can be responsible for loss of power. Dis-connecting them puts the car into back-up mode and will illuminate an engine DTC or check light but won't cause any harm. Just ensure the plug is...

    American Cars

LS1 (5.7) engines can make really good power. Way more than a lot of the old school engines. The stock LS1 heads (241's) flow 230cfm @ .550-600 cam lift. To get 100hp out of them is easy. Just cam, springs, good push-rods and a tune. (The stock springs I have mentioned about and the stock...

Why does my car pull to the left

Could be your left front brake binding, intermittently. Or the camber on the road. Some roads have more (camber) than others but most are built with a slight slope (camber) going from the centre or crown of the road towards each side or gutter. Primarily there to drain off rain water and...

    Brakes question.

I've tried quite a few different makes. I need brakes that can work from 200+kph along with good brake pads. I don't care if the pad life is shortened I'll take that over mine being shortened. Small price to pay for piece of mind. I get no noise at all from the handed, slotted discs I use. If...

Braking on a bend with ABS

That's it right on the button HDI, For traditional style driving enthusiasts, if that's what some are. They enjoy the challenge and are aware that it does take some level of skill to pilot a car around in all conditions. Knowing they might not always get it right is all part of it and this...

Braking on a bend with ABS

I'll go with that, Traction Control is your right foot, ABS is cadence braking. When I had a car without ABS there was much better feel through the brake pedal. Changed the car for an identical car but with ABS and it felt like I was pushing a block of wood....no feel anymore.

AFR fight btwn me and friend

O2 sensors, are only capable being accurate around 450Mv (equates to 14.7:1) and a little either side. As such they are known as narrow-band sensors. They can be used as a guide for fuel mixture outside the narrow bands, but that takes a bit of explaining and you usually need some kind of...

AFR fight btwn me and friend

HDI, KR can only pull timing. That's just the problem. If AFR's are set too weak when the car goes into Power Enrichment Mode, there's nothing that can be done about it. The car will try and "tell" you by suffering hesitation and maybe backfiring when shutting off quickly but if this is...

The Original Poster is correct, Best AFR for most engines under load is between 12.5 and 13.2:1 Don't bother arguing with fools (your buddy with the SRT4) they just drag you down to their level and beat you with experience. Running higher than this AFR-wise is considered too weak and will...

    What is back pressure

Back Pressure, Usually refers to exhaust systems. It is the amount of restriction in the whole system. It can be measured usually by tapping an air pressure gauge into the collector or using the O2 sensor bung. The higher the reading the more back pressure or restriction in the system. Less is...
