So you have a modified car

Many of those mods will probably be the cause for the accident in the first place, altering the factory handling purely for looks doesn’t bode well.

    Will manual transmissions die out

It may well become rarer in the future as technology advances. I prefer manual for track use but have auto for everyday purely for comfort in today’s traffic. Older autos can become problematic as seen many on Audi forums swapping out their autos for manuals on Allroads and S6s etc. Luckily my...

    Avoiding the Kerb

Kerbed my new 18s on the Avant, not happy. Reverse parking in crowded Portsmouth streets to see my daughter.

What are the dead giveaways of a bad driver

Drifting and crossing white lines, tailgating for starters.

What's the biggest engine you've ever owned

    Audi 4.2 V8 circa 300 bhp. Had a hire car with a 6.2 V8 480 bhp ;)

What are you passioniate about ?

Tough one that. Can’t really give one answer, I have a passion for engineering, MGs for starters.

Is there such a thing as a finished project car

Never had a finished project. When I do I’ll let you know ;)

    Why is it so?

No offence taken! You may be misinformed as I can agree with some of what you are saying but not all. We used to have an MGF, great little car, progressed to a much bigger 4 seater. Yes it is heavy but a great cruiser, full electric roof and not blowy at all with the wind stop fitted. We enjoy...

    Why is it so?

Best hide my caps then! If I’m driving the A4 cab I have to wear a peaked cap to stop the sun in my eyes when the roof is down.

Would you still be able to pass the test?

I would probably struggle if I am honest. Had my licence some 38 years, no points, never been breathylised but that doesn’t make me a saint ;)

How many cars have you owned

I do have a list somewhere, just over 60 cars and a couple of vans including race cars.

Which car was the most fun to drive

My HSX Chevette stood out for me, bit of a sleeper. Got teased by many and the look on their faces when it took off! My current MG ZS is my favourite, great chassis and always puts a smile on my face, probably why I still have it some 14 years later.

Do they make cars that only last 10 years

Duracell made the mistake a few years back by improving their battery’s life, cost them dearly and they ended up pulling it. Car manufacturers are the same, build in obsolescence to keep people’s interest in evolving models.

    Your weekend plans

Just freeing up a sticky window on the Golf, it got stuck down! All ok now. No other car work planned as had some DIY to do. Granddaughter time Sunday!

What is your current dream car

Too many to list. Still would love a Droopsnoot Firenza with the Old Nail kit. HSR Chevette too. However I wouldn’t mind a newish Mustang convertible V8, one day. RS6 Avant for a daily.....

    How mechanically skilled are you

Not a pro as not done every job. Not stripped or rebuilt a gearbox yet, got one that needs doing. Self taught mostly but in my younger days learnt from older friends/family. Stripped and rebuilt engines, super bikes too. Machined pistons and cylinder heads (time served toolmaker by trade)...

Other people working on your car

Having three daughters I never got a mechanic!

Other people working on your car

I have a small local garage I use for MOTs and trust them. There are times when I have no time to repair or my back is playing up, so leave it with them. Other than that my youngest daughters boyfriend is good on cars, qualified mechanic and raced cars, he’s done a few little jobs, bonding time!

What qualifies as a classic car?

Modern classics exist through certain car insurers, my MG ZS is on such a policy and costs around £120 a year with all mods plus I get MGCC discount. One day my zed may be seen in the same light as mk4/5 Cortinas! Those prices are silly!
