Are there any danger of running a car with a broken Blow off valve???

Thanks,

Nice car! Love them.

Are you getting black smoke out the exhaust?

I had this problem with my old escort, I ended up putting a 3mm steel plate over the valve to cover it up. Motor worked fine, but turbo wan't so clever.

Mate, as far as I can think, it can damage the turbo propellers & force the injectors to give a rich mixture due to confused operation of MAF sensor. Try to fix it.

welcome to the site
i dont know a lot about turbo only that their fast

but as far as i know turbos have a sealed system, the blow off valve allows unused gasses out, if its broken, it wouldnt be good

what you could do is take out rthe valve, and bypass it
the car didnt come with 1 from the factory

all forms of petrol turbo, bar variable vane ones, need some way of getting rid of the pressure build up when the throttle is closed. by doing away with the BOV then this presurised air is going to have to go back through the turbo causing more issues, and expensive repairs.

the unused exhaust gas goes through the wastegate
