    UNF better than metric?

When you tighten a bolt you obviously put tension on the thread. The finer the thread the weaker it will be and the bigger the the base diameter of the bolt. The only way to counteract this is the have more thread length. I have not claimed that F1 doesn't use UNF threads. All I am saying is...

    The Astra Track Day Car

Apex are quite good. I have dealt with them for years and never had any problems with them. Cross drilled are okay when they are designed for it as some Brembos are. Grooved/slotted discs are much better. Don't go for too many grooves. 3, 4 or 6 are more than adequate.

Astra 2002 1.6 CDE ecu mapping

Either post or mail me a picture of the engine bay, just to make sure that we talk about the same car. I will come back to you with a solution that works.

    UNF better than metric?

It might have occured to you that forums are information bases. What is the point of having the knowledge when it is not being used? Unlike the ones who want to make believe that only the 'chosen' ones can do the work I am, I give my knowledge away. And to clarify this: If I make claims, I am...

Astra 2002 1.6 CDE ecu mapping

You can't just plug in a computer. There is a lot more to it. If you have as much ICE as you are claiming then there is no wonder that your car is slower than others. Before looking into the ECU you have to sort out the breathing. This starts with a dedicated air intake, not just a kit off the...

    UNF better than metric?

If you had thought about what I wrote you wouldn't have made such an immature comment. Threading goes back many hundreds of years. Standards only came in due to industrialisation. Different global powers standardised them differently. Rather than implying what my motives are, switch on the...

    UNF better than metric?

The thing is, there isn't an advantage to use one or the other in general. Both can be made working evenly well, depending on application and approach. I am living engineering and not bothered with either of the 2c norms. What it boils down to is the material the threads are made of. About...

    saxo vts tuning

I have been working for BMC (as a consultant) to make the CDAs work better with appropriate intake modifications. Whatever the results possible, with twin cone filters (other than the BMC ones) we achieved better results. The CDA needs a lot of re-working to bet as good as the best flowing twin...

    UNF better than metric?

When the thread is finer than the metric fine threads then you need a longer bolt as the thread can't take as much tension as the bolt (thread length needs to be longer than bolt width). The question is what you want to let go sooner if things are stressed over the limits or for safety reasons...

The CDA is in no way better than an open twin cone cotton gauze filter. BMC is a waste of money.

Astra H 1.9 CDTI SRI 150 Remap advice

The problems you might encounter is slowly killing the turbo seals with too much unburnt fuel. If you constantly driving on the limit with a much higher power/torque (than the re-map to 190bhp/320lb ft) the drive train can suffer too. If you wish to see more power/torque than 190bhp/320lb ft...

    UNF better than metric?

It depends on the pitch. The finer the pitch, the bigger the threads diameter. bolts are designed for different uses, which are tensional, torsional or sheer forces or a combination of them. The metric system has many applications that are not available in just any hardware shop. The...
