What are your thoughts on the fuel prices? What will it be like in a years time?

I think we should see it coming down as more efficient vehicles come on the roads, and the pound will improve against the dollar taking down the barrel of oil cost in real terms.

Fuel prices (in my area for Tesco Momentum99) is currently £1.229.
At this time in 2016 it was £1.119 a litre.
2015 £1.115
2014 £1.349!!

Yeah I keep a thing...

So with my mighty stats I predict 2018 it will be £1.20 ish

I love the scientific approach to your answer. :)

We always seem to pay 5p more for fuel down here in the South or 10p or more if you are using a motorway service station.

It's 6 months later, let's have a look at things for mid Dec :)

Again this is Tesco Momentum99 fuel, the only fuel I use, and mostly filling up at the same station near me in Bournemouth, though there are one or two from travels around the UK.
Dec 2014 £1.109
Dec 2015 £1.049
Dec 2016 £1.199
Dec 2017 £1.229

So much variation over the course of the year.
Here's an average:
2014 £1.276
2015 £1.132
2016 £1.145
2017 £1.177 (caveat - I've still got 2 receipts to add into my spreadsheet, but I cant see the numbers changing that much. They are at home, I'm at work, spreadsheet on a cloud drive; I'll add them in later and if it changes I'll amend the post.)

Fuel prices in the news this morning!
14 May 2013 M99 fuel was £1.369
May 2014 £1.329
May 2015 £1.114 A massive drop
May 2016 £1.109 this year was in the news for being the lowest in recent year. Woo, a ha'penny cheaper!
May 2017 £1.209
May 2018 £1.279

The prices over here in Oz bear no relation to the barrel prices. IMO the fuel companies are charging what they think they can get away with.
I have seen prices vary by more than 10 cents per litre from the same brand depending on their location.

Fuel duty is to be frozen for another year; 9 in a row now!
Thanks, Mrs May, but fuel prices are still going up!

Fuel prices are only going one way IMO. We have 12 years to save the planet which I actually don't doubt but I can't see a deadline actually affecting anyones behaviour or attitude until it's too late.

It will cost too much money to reduce emissions and clean up the planet!

I think as the pound to dollar strengthens any barrel price increases will smooth out. If fuel costs get too high it will affect our spending power.

End of 2018 update!
Fuel cost me an average of £1.303 per litre.
I put in an average of 45.26 litres everytime.
I managed 23.3mpg over the year @26p per mile.

At its height 99 octane fuel was costing me £1.349. The lowest was £1.219, which is the price now. 12 months ago it was £1.249.

It's been a pretty wild ride for fuel prices this year. Oil is at a low again, so hopefully this will filter through to the pumps, but then again it might be a while until we see it.

Over we have what is called "fuel cycles" and IMO we long suffering motorists are being taken for a ride and our government appointed apparently toothless "consumer watchdogs " simply do nothing other than watch and do much hand wringing as the fuel in the servo tanks that they were quite happy to sell yesterday @ say $1.12 Aud per liter jumps to around $1.35 or so the next day so to me it seems they do it because they can and get away with it .

The other mystery is as to why the same brand needs to be different prices in different areas of the same town.
