Hi, this looks like a great forum to be part of! I've been chatting to Waynne and he's allowed us to come on and answer your insurance questions, give advice and make you aware of our offers too.

I look forward to helping you with your insurance related queries and maybe we can dispel some of the myths around insurance.

On a personal note, I was particularly interested to read about the Briley Coachworks meet. Tim Briley is an old friend and neighbour of mine and a right character.

I look forward to 'meeting' you on the forum :)

Best regards,
Nick Day

Hi

Do you cover modified cars?

If so, have a quick look at this thread to see what I am doing to my 1967 Lotus Elan. Plan is to have the car back on the road early 2015.

Hi Steve,

Wow that's quite a project! While we do cover modified cars of all sorts there is a power output limit of 100bhp over stock so I think your Elan would fall just outside of that I'm afraid. ;)

best,
Nick

Yes, by around 320bhp.

So, you would insure a 50bhp car that was increased to 150bhp (200% increase) but not a 400bhp car running 500 (25% increase)?

We'd do the 400 running 500 because it's still 100 over stock. We wouldn't do a 50bhp running 200bhp either. I agree that a percentage limit would be more sensible than a fixed bhp but that's what we're stuck with I'm afraid. We're brokers so we have to accept what the insurers themselves decide.

I should have said 510 :)

Oh, well, back to Adrian Flux.

Do you do one day insurance?

I want to buy a car its 90 miles away I will be doing it up so won't need insurance for a whole year.

It is an import and unmodified.

The cheapest cost I have found is £60 for 1 day.

Thanks.

We don't offer one-day cover I'm afraid but if you have another car insured you should be able to add it to that policy temporarily to get it home.

I tried, but as its an import they will not insure it.

I will give you a call tomorrow and see how much it is for the year.

I tried another specialist today (A.F.) and they would only do it third party as the value of the car is £900 and the quote was £1200.
