What is your next car likely to be? I guess we all have a dream next car as well as a practical next car option.

Which are yours?

I've been thinking about this a lot lately as my mileage is creeping up to 100,000 miles.

I think my next car will be another A3 with the 2.0TFSI engine and I'd like a quattro engine. The Twincharge golf is also a good bet with similar power to my current car and much better economy but I'm not sure if it can be remapped and is worth considering.

My next dream car will be an RS4 but I don't think I want to shell out for the massive fuel costs as this will add up over the next few years.

Would love my next car to be an A3 1.8t quattro. But with the crash last week, i don't think i'll be able to afford it. Until i get a full time job.

After two years of driving a stripped out tin can for 50miles a day I have to say I'm thinking of something that's less likely to make me prematurely deaf.

I've already found somewhere to store & work on the 100R, so now all I have to do now is save up for something with a diesel engine that's cheap to run & depressingly practical. It will need to be able to carry car bits, lumps of garden & fit a couple of bikes in the back so I'm thinking of one of those awful van derived car things things like the Peugeot Partner/ Citroen Berlingo or a Fiat Doblo.

The Fiat Doblo is looking like the most promising as it has a huge capacity, the most powerful engines sadly it's only bettered by the Multipl-urgh for ugliness! :amuse:

My next dream car would be a Citreon DS for commuting & a Lotus Exige for weekends. :D

I'm hoping to move onto an M3 of some sort. If not then a 328 E36.

The M52 2.8 engine is not the liveliest. Even in it's later form with double VANOS (M52TUB28 - variable valve timing for both cams) it's not a particularly sporty one.

It gives a good account of its performance and can return remarkable fuel parsimony if you drive with strong anticipation and planning. It's also silky smooth and almost 'Bentley quiet' on the move.

Of course, it's not actually slow in absolute terms but it's not going to get anywhere near an M3.

If the M3 is too pricey then I think you'd be a lot happier with an E46 330i over an E36 328i. For the extra 0.2 of a litre the M54 engine is, despite the minor differences, tuned much more toward power and will offer a nicer drive.

Moreover, I reckon a remapped 330d will be better still with 240+ bhp and outrageous torque approaching 350lbft. Later 330d E46s will got to 265bhp and correspondingly more torque as well.

i will also say the 328 isnt that quick but its a major step up from the 318

and a step in the right direction!!

my next car to keep for a while
mmmm lol
well should be selling a car tomorrow and i want a motor for the winter that i can use while i trash my landrover

i am looking at 2 motors at the min that i might get over the weekend
a astra g estate 1.6 will be good for getting bits in
or a 2001 vectra
both are very cheap might even get both and sell the one i dont like the most lol

but cant make my mind up on what one to get might be what ever ones still for sale

I hopefully am buying a Mitsubishi Galant tomorrow as it makes a better family car and workhorse than my MX5

my next car will most likely be an estate with 4wd a passat is at the top of the list at the min.

I'd love an Audi R8 to be honest - it's my dream car. Selling both the RS4 and the Range Rover Sport and making myself completely skint it'd probably be viable to get a used example but I have the sense not to do it. Once the weather gets crap like this, especially living in the sticks, I would instantly miss the Land Rover.

I dunno what i'll be getting next. The Focus will be replaced in Feb 2012 so i'll be looking into other cars late 2011.
I am at the minute trying to convince my mum to let me put a car on her yard but negotiations are going slow.
I wouldn't mind going old school with a Mk4 Escort of some sort.

I'm thinking about getting the new Mustang GT 5.0L. Or I might keep my current car and build one of those kit cars with some of my friends.

Its good to know that there are still a few of us around that know what it means a few years ago there were quite a lot of vehicles in this category to many to mention :D:D:D

Either a polo deisel, or a Nissan GT-R

Now I know these cars are not simmilar in any way what so ever, but there is reason in my logic. If I buy a house in the next year or so, then I would try and keep my Evo. If I was unable to keep it, then I would sell it and buy a cheep run-around.

Or, If I do not buy a house, then I am banking on the price of a Nissan GT-R dropping in the next 3 years to arround 20K. Then I'd have one of them baby's!

Well I did get an A4 Quattro with the 220bhp TFSI engine, that's as near as I will ever get to a RS model!

Then a couple of years ago I went to an A3 2.0 TDI 140!

So the next one will probably be another A3 high spec tiptronic Diesel!

Well I never did do the R8 thing I mentioned 4 years back in this thread. They say never meet your idols and I've since road tested customer ones and they're not all that.

I've actually got no clue what I want next now :-/ - which is very unusual for me.

Maybe you are there with the perfect car already!
