vw bora 1.9 tdi
hi ppl I have a 1999 vw bora 1.9 tdi 110bhp im looking for advise on how to up the power. I recently bought a milltek downpipe decat not put it on yet till i have all the over bits then taking it in for a remap. was thinking to get a front mount intercooler, induction kit, new injectors, the rest of my exhaust e.g back box, and a remap. can people help me on whats the best stuff to buy and how to get the nicest sound from my bora please???

hey and welcome to the site.

dont bother with the cat back unless your wanting noise, same with the induction kit - both flow well as standard.

not sure how much worth there would be from fitting larger injectors as the 110 is a non pd engine so unsure what turbos are avalible for it

should see around 140-150 bhp after a remap with a nice whack in torque as well

Agree with PG. Diesels usually flow pretty well anyway as there's no throttle. A remap will make a huge difference to the performance of your car. The torque these engines can deliver is astounding. Common rail PD cars are even more impressive but you'll like the remap performance believe me.

If you're planning to do more then do it before remapping anyway. It's the only way to maximise things. PGarner is the man to speak to re VAG enginess. Jarrus is also very good indeed. These are the resident specialists for your purposes I would say.

Anyhow, welcome to Torque Cars.

Best regards,

Paul.

ok thank you I'm more than happy to have joined :), Thats what I was thinking remap last im looking around 180+200 bhp mark whats the best way to achieve this

That's going to be hard to achieve with that engine I think. However, if you see circa 240lbft of torque with just a remap you're going to be well into the mid range slam of 3 litre non turbo petrol cars.

With diesel the limiting factor is lack of revs. Your TDi is an eight valve engine and it's unlikely to offer much above 4000-4500rpm. But after a remap it will pull hard right the way to the red line. Plus it'll offer STACKS more shove everywhere below that.

Why not remap it firstly and then decide if you really need much more. I suspect you'll find you won't.

The old adage is we all talk bhp but we all drive torque.

cheapest way would be to sell the 110 and buy a 150PD engine. remapped your looking around 190

130 pd will remap to around 170.
after remapping it becomes expensive. to get from 190 to 240 is a good 4 -5 grand using new parts.

if your sticking with the non PD youll need to look more into what turbos can fit and injectors

^ ^ ^ the PDs are more tunable. ^ ^ ^

The later common rail models even more so. Many, however, prefer the PD engines for the sheer torque they can dish out. I always found the four cylinder PDs very ''dieselly' though, in terms of refinement. Your non PD unit is a much sweeter engine in my opinion.

The four cylinder HDi PSA units are far more refined than either however especially so the 16 valve ones

I know it will be best to sell the car and get a 150 bhp but its a killer on insurance I'm looking at a remap, milltek exhaust system, induction kit, front mount intercooler, injectors. what parts are the best to get and what will work?

OK, your engine can be made to produce the power of the 150's, you just need the better injectors and a decent front mount intercooler, the block, head and internals are the same,

Another difference is the turbo is bigger, I think it's a GT1752V more prefferable for the power you're looking for, or even a GT2056V full exhaust is all worth a look

That little lot will still significantly ramp up your insurance premium.
