Volvo to phase out traditional engines

There will be many many more. The real question is how long will petrol engined cars still be popular on our roads?

I reckon about 20 years or so. After that they will be a classic novelty.

It is a crazy thought. It makes me think of the Sylvester Stallone & Wesley Snipes film 'Demolition Man'.
I think there will always be a market for combustion engines, what about custom car builders or small factories like Bristol or TVR? I cannot imagine electric Lorries either, although i am sure they are coming. The batteries required for that would be huge!
I have driven the Nissan Leaf & Renault Zoe at work (car auction) and they are impressive tbh. I wouldn't ever want one but the power is there from the get go.
Going back to the Volvo thing, i imagine they would be a nice car to have, Volvo are good cars and any electric car around at the moment is still, really, just the beginning i guess...
