hi people i'm hoping to put a powerful sound system in my car and was wondering whether any of you guys knew were i can get an alternator about 120 amp to fit on my rover 214 16v bubble shape any help would be greatly apreciated thanks
lance :)

whats on it the now ? 90ish amp.
easier idea would be to fit a uprated battery in the boot and a split charger for the 2 batteries. unless your going over 1000w rms constant (about 12 times more than max than what you get already ) your not going to put a big strain on the current alternator

You could get a different wind on your alternator to provide more current. You may even find the 220 alternators fit and give the voltage you are after. As PG suggests a heavy duty battery should do the trick. What sort of ICE power are you looking at installing?

there is gonna be an orion d5000 sub amp(2500w rms) powering 2 orion hcca 12.2 subs(2000w rms each) 3 way hertz hsk163.3 (150w rms) 3 sets of hsk165.3 (125w each) and 2 hertz hp4 4 channel amps (920w rms) and a 15 inch flat screen not decided on the brand yet. wat batterys would you recommend (rover 220 diesel?) and the alternator on atm is 65 amp so does anybody know if the rover 220 diesel alternator would fit or any others of a different car without a load of modifications thanks lance :)

Have a look at some battery specialists and see whats on offer. I've seen some massive differences in the battery cranking power from model to model so a heavy duty 220 Gti battery will probably suffice. Another option is to install a second battery.

With alternators you only have to worry about the engine mounts as they are belt driven. You can pretty much get a belt of all sizes so check the mounts.

Most places that recondition alternators would be able to increase the wind on yours to give the desired output.

Another question to ask is will the ICE be running at full power all the time the engine is running. You may well find that although drain occurs the battery will support your ICE and you always have the option of a trickle charge overnight. ;)

Hope this help a little. ASC audio is probably the person to ask - he really does know his ICE.
