Croxley Green - is this close to Watford and Rickmansworth perchance?

What was the car? You left this bit out. I'm guessing it's a MkII Cavalier SRi.

Welcome to happyland,

Rgds,

P.

I thought so - on both accounts. I used to frequent a recording studio just off the A412 back in the early 1990s.
Hello and Welome to Torque Cars, by the way.

regret selling my 205 1.9 Gti, didnt need the money but wasnt in the country and was just taking up garage space. it wasnt in the best state, no rust or anything just a bit 'worn' but was great fun to drive.

I really miss my MK1 Astra EXP in black and gold. It looked good and was fun to drive but sadly it was rusting away.

The bloke before I had it spent an absolute fortune on it.
The suspension was set up for the 16 inch wheels it was running.
It handled amazing for what it was. It ate just about everything on the road for breakfast.
I used to love playing with Scoobs and Evo's.

Never had a speeding ticket in my life.;)
I played most of the time off the lights so never really needed to go that much over. But it was sooo much fun seeing a suprised face of a Scoob owner in my mirrors.

:lol::lol::lol:
TBH it was set up really well and if you managed the throttle it gripped very well from a standstill.
Second gear burnouts where so easy though if you pushed that little bit too far.

Probably top of the list of regrets is my 1978 HSX Chevette, 2300 16v twin cam, one of 10 specials out of a total 400 built for group B rallying homologation. Others were a 72 Firenza and a 76 Magnum coupe running a stage 4 Blydenstein engine.

may seem hard to believe but i have had 64 cars since i was seventeen.an average of about two and a half cars per year.
But the one i miss the most is my ford escort harrier on a v plate in white with blue striping.
was in mint condition with all the right stuff added.
sold it to a teenager from flint in flintshire who rapped it up within a fortnight.
what a waste.!

Thats a hole car park man...

I regret selling dads old toyota corona deluxe from 1972.

I'd imagine 4th gear burnouts weren't too challenging either with that amount of shove in a lightweight FWD car.

Hey Stamford theres a Firenza 2.3 Blydenstein tuned rally replica for sale in this months Classic Cars ;)

I really miss my mk2 Prelude I had when I was 18. Never let me down and I polished that every weekend. Kept it for 4 years and when I went into management in the early 90's I got all giddy and bought a huge Lancia Thema V6 which was the biggest pile of poo and darn well nearly broke me.

I must go find this!

Take a look in the March issue of Classic Cars (main feature titled DS Desire) page184. Vauxhall Firenza 2.3 1972 £4500
Had a £10000 restoration, new tyres, new cambelt, many spares included Buckinghamshire area.
Looks nice. Did you see the John Pope Special Magnum super saloon for sale last November. Vauxhall Magnum with a Aston Martin 5.4 V8 and AM Developments twin turbos producing some 900hp when cranked up. Saw it at the auction and it looked fantastic even though a bit battered. I hope whoever bought it will use it and abuse like it was designed to do. Apparantly he used to drive to the circuit in the car, race and then drive home. You just don't get that now a days do you

that worries me.
had a 10k restore and selling it for 4.5

What I thought aswell but I would hope with a bit of quesioning to find its an older resto and thats the cars value at the moment. Without provenence i.e genuine car raced in the 70's, race wins or famous drivers to link to the car then I guess it's just an old Vauxhall thats been restored to a spec the owner wanted. Worth a bit of digging though I would of thought.

I also found another Firenza for £7500! WTH? and Pentti Arikkala's HSR Chevette, POA! Why oh why did I sell mine!

At least with genuine classic Firenza's and Chevette's of HS and HSR type can be verified through the club as they keep records.

I regret having to have sold my A4 Quattro, it was a lovely car but sadly the running costs were too high!

Have fond memories of my green Fiat 125 as it loved to rev and had a sporty feel about it.
Also a Peugeot 404 which had an odd Strong spring loaded gearbox gate but made sense when you were hustling it along.

I was once the proud owner of and Escort RS 2000 mk2, I't still out there as I remember the reg, (are we allowed to post a reg number?) it's SORN'd according to the dvla and probably in a lock up somewhere....but the other day I went to house to buy an exhaust for my Audi 80 cabby and the guy (he might be on here?) has one in his garage in need of restoration, he has had it a long time and I'm thinking of making an offer as I miss that old Escort and would love to have one again but good ones are so hard to find and sooooooo expensive now!

Lots of fond memories and regrets. They say car nuts have no feelings but I think we've totally proved that one wrong!

I have 3 cars that i wish i still had.

1. BMW E9 csl, bought it 23 years ago off an old guy who just wanted shot of it as it had been standing in his yard for over 8 years, I gave him £200! for it and he was over the moon. I started work on it as it was rough round the edges and needed a resto. I had a split level garage at the time and while the brakes were off to get a referb my dad in his wisdom decided to drive it out of the garage to give it a warm up he them reversed it back into the garage and straight over the split level ( a drop of around 4ft ) and snap went the chassis! I sold it to the scrap man for £250! No when i look at how much they are worth i almost cry!

2. Cavilier Mk2 SRI Hatch in red, Loved that car.

3. And the one i miss the most is the Audi s2 2.2 20v turbo. What a fantastic car that was, even in stock form it was good but Take it to RS2+ spec and over 400hp from the 5 cyl engine and MY GOOD GOD! how nice was that sound, I felt like Stig Blomvquist everytime i went out in it ( even tho it was the wrong shape Quattro )

One day i will own another S2:)

I didnt regret selling my1 961 TVR grantura Mark II A untill I say one sell for £22K twenty yeras later

That only had a stock BMC 1600 motor in - mine had a genuine MGA twin cam engine in which were quite rare in MGs and almost unknown in the grantura,

The car is probably worth £30-40K now
