Just new to this and hopefully someone can help me out with a problem i have with my 1998 Honda Civic 1.6 vti DOHC. All four of my car tires are wearing away on the inside of them and this is because my car is lowered and has pushed the wheels out like so --> /----\ . Can anyone help me out with this problem but i don't want to raise my car up again?

How far is it lowered? that could be the cause.. The other is the tracking.

it could be that its lowered alright, by how much though mate??
no need to put on the ome springs, just get a camber kit

i dont know why people moddify the suspension parts on vtecs
they all have a double wishbone set-up back and front
its very hard to beat the ome, no matter if you spend 100s on it

Well i bought it with (I think the Tenzo R lowering springs already in the car) nearly sure its them but there not adjustable because i was looking at them and got my uncle to check them out but there the one's made by Tenzo R to replace the standard springs and bring the car down a bit more!I'm nearly sure its in around 40mm they lower the car! I asked around tyre garages and they told me it would prob need tracked aswell but was looking through a modification book i got with a car magazine and I seen what they recommended was adjustable rear arm??? I'm so confused on what i need to do!

U say no need to put on the ome springs! What are they sorry???
Oh and would a camber kit fix it even lowerd and if i wanted to lower it more? What kind of cash we talking?
I wouldn't have alot of knowledge on this much detail!
Oh yeah and I definatley don't have a clue what your talking about the double wishbone front and back!lol!
Sorri if im a torture with all the questions but I haven't got a notion!

Re: Very general brakes question

Does a Civic really benefit from being lowered that far? If the tyre wear is so pronounced on the inside edges then surely that's the only part that's fully in contact with the road

ahh 2 threads,
have you had the tracking and wheel alignment done ?

i think ome should have read Original Equipment Manufactures in other words the standard honda ones
the double wishbone, is the way the suspension is setup - 2 wishbones. its easier to read up on it rather than try to explain on here
dunno mines handled well as standard, prince seems happy with his 120mm drop as well but thats a full setup.

The two threads confused me also. I though "hang on I've replied to this already!" so I've just replied to it in the Honda forum. This thread is good in General chat as it is a problem that affects a lot of lowered cars.

I wonder if Prince needed a camber kit on his?

I never thought I'd hit 10,000 but you are catching me up. 3440 from someone who just signed up to have a sniff around!

I wonder when the forum will hit 100,000 posts any guesses?

oem i meant, origanal equipment make

an adjustable camber kit will allow you to straighten the wheels

1) Find out what the camber angles toe in toe out etc are for original set up
2) specialist should be able to give you what it should be when lowered
3) then spend some money and get it laser aligned
4) that is all cheaper than new tyres every 5k miles or so let alone all the damage being done to suspension ineffective braking and so on
5)Even massively cheaper that righting it off cos your angles of your dangles are out and you've just totaled it on some bend along with you or/and passengers:blink:

if it came like that then you can guarantee its bodged IMHO

My Civic is lowered on adjustables, but by 120mm. I suffer no problems with tyre wear what so ever. PG is correct, my suspension is set up for racing....HDi, yeah lowering a Civic does improve the handling a fair bit.

Have you had the car jacked up to have a proper look? Maybe a couple of pics would help? Have you tried changing one of the tyres to see if still happens?

Feck 120mm
My FTO cant be lowered from standard as I run a Bozzspeed front but its usually only 40mm ish lowering for front, maybe 60mm at a push!
there is a FTO lowered with Bozz front but he's had to build a metal Bash plate and still needs to check his routes :toung: I wouldn't get to my front door cos of the speed bump in my road
Still spose it's all relative to each car!

you have probs with camber - + you need to get the thing set up write ? or by lotts of tyres ,one thing i do now is do not f--- with honda shocks and camber get kit put it write
