Silicone Based Cleaners

which fool came up with this madness?

dont you hate it when you're viewing a car and the owner tries to impress by a thorough clean..with silicone based cleaning products!

it looks cheap and tacky and its the most dangerous thing you can do, its like lubricant, your hand slips off the gear knob, or you try to turn the steering wheel and only your arms move.

has anyone else had similar experiances?

Don't get me started on this stuff, you may as well paint the interior with grease.

In my first car the pedals looked aweful so I merrily sprayed the stuff on them and then regreted it for weeks later. A bit of elbow grease is all that is needed to clean the interior - silicone just makes the dust and grime shiny!
