Potential New Project

Im currently thinking of purchasing a 1.8 seat ibiza was just wondering on peoples ideas on whats the best way to mod the car for good performance first up? Over the years i will spend money on the car however when i first get it i want to know whats the best way to spend £3000 on it?
Any ideas welcome
