Potential new owner

Ho everyone, i'm seriously thinking about buying a Mazda 6 diesel estate. I'm looking to buy one around the 04/05 reg range and i'd just like some info on buying a second had one, things to look out for, what engine is the best, running cost's, you know the kind of thing, any info would be thankfuly received
