Hi all. I started out with an automatic licence, and only got my manual licence about 2 months ago. I've only ever driven my 206, and I've noticed something funny about first gear. Two of my friends drive manual cars (a Mitsubishi Lancer and a Ford Laser), and their cars can actually get to 40 or 50 km/h in first gear. In my Pug, I can only get to 30, and it has no guts whatsoever. I'm wondering if this is a quirk of the 206, or if there's something wrong with the first ratio in my car.

Any help from you other 206 drivers would be greatly appreciated!

First ratios are usually quite low in sporty models. I've not had many cars that can do more than 30 in first gear without hitting the rev limiter. It means you can get to 60 a lot quicker than your mates though.

I'm glad it's not some fault with my car. Still, it's a tad annoying to have no get-up in first.
