hi i have a peugeot 206 diesel the car runs fine but upon leaving it stood for a couple of days it will not start unless u pump the primer pump it seems to have got worse and it is happening when it is left overnight could anyone tell me what might be causing this thanks bri :)

I had this same problem with my old BMW diesel. I fitted a non return valve in the inlet fuel line just before the filter. Cured the problem completely. These can be bought from a good car spares for around £5.

Hope this helps, dean

The HDi engines run at insane fuel pressures - circa 1300 time atmospheric or even higher in some cases. So we have to assume that the leak is upstream of the high pressure pump otherwise there'd be diesel all over the engine bay.

Pipes under the air filter box rub against the housing causing small hole to wear thru causing air to enter system renew pipes £100 from peugeot or replace with 8mm braided fuel lines for a few quid .
