Overheating problem solved???

Hopefully tracked it down to a faulty thermostat that was new and tested before installation when I removed the radiator for cleaning a few months ago

Decided to replace it with a lower temp opening one so when I tested the existing t/stat it would not open even if the water was boiling

So have replaced the 82 deg one with a 78 deg and refilled the radiator and burped it to remove trapped air and will be doing an oil & filter change before the next event so fingers xx ed the problem has disappeared

Whatever happens you're one step closer to a solution! It sounds like you've cracked it though.

Certainly hope so as it has been a character building exercise and am close to overflowing
Have also ordered a Hi Flo thermostat to have in hand if needed.
