wasnt easy
To be honest, we went from a 1.2 to a 1.8 gte, then to a 2ltr, all 8v.
I was very unsatisfied with the results from the 2ltr 8v, so i was browsing ebay and bam 2.5 v6 red top for 300 quid. Came with gearbox, ecu, engine harness, down pipe and the guy threw in an induction kit for free (very nice guy)
Now fitting it was tricky, because it was so huge we couldnt go down we had to come up the engine bay. We used the f16 gearbox that comes with the 1.8 and 2ltr 8v engines, but then we had the change the flywheel as that too was massive, so we used a flywheel from a 2ltr 16v. There was some uming and ahhhing as to this little mod effecting the running (doesnt bother it a bit).
With this gear box on 2 out of the 4 mounts were sorted, the tricky one was the mounting we had to weld in and the top engine steady....
Few niggles with the wiring, nothing that a volt meter couldn't fix, and getting you hands in the now filled engine bay to plum up the water works was tricky... but it sounds like a monster and it goes like s**t off a shovel.... I still want a bit more power, as i'm not quite content with the 190bhp, so NOS is my final mod as there's no space at all in the bay to fit a turbo or supercharger.
Hope this aint bored you.
