Hello there :)

Come to a discrepancy :)

Do I get a Toyota Starlet 1.3 Turbo (VERY VERY quick)

or a Renault Clio 1.6 16v (My preference as I have a clio now)

Both around the same price to buy and same price to insure.

What do you guys think?

I am after something that will put me back in my seat when I put my foot down but something that will drive nicely round town too :)

I like the idea of a turbo, because I like the whole dump valve sound :)

Thanks :D

Mate do you really need me to answer? ;) You know which 1 i'd buy....

Well .. whatever my next car is, I am keeping it for a good 2-3 years or so, so I want to make the right choice :)

I would be putting a full exhaust system from manifold, cat bypass, centre pipe and backbox on whatever I buy, the pipercross enclosed filter that costs like 200 quid and a blow off valve.

And if it is the Starlet that I get, I will also get it remapped ;)

Get the Turbo... You know you want to..;)

Buy the Starlet. It's probably much more lively than Le Regie. It will also be much more reliable. Japanese manufacturers know a thing or two about turbocharged small petrol engines. Suzuki Swift from the 1980's was only 1.0 litre but lovely and lively to drive with brakes to match.

Thanks for that piece of info HDI :)... obviously, I am only really after quick acceleration because there are speed limits in place over here ;)

Any more recommendations?

Definately the Starlet you can do more with them and they are rarer. Have you seen the white one that goes round deal? It sounds great and is a very lively little performer.

:D

Yes I have Waynne.. I know the guy.. not personally

That is his bebo with some stats of his car

I am unsure that it will do 6.9 seconds 0-60 though :)

It is a very nice car in my opinion except I won't be able to afford the bodykit for a while, so it will have to come with.

@Pgarner

I have heard that you can get a piggy back ECU or something for these things, from a GT Starlet forum

go with the starlet mate, the only reason is
jap vs french

i personaly think the starlet has 2 much power for a small car, but on the up side, their heavier than the glanza, i wouldnt advise anyone to buy a glanza

i know you have a clio already, but its time to expieriance power, starlet is a good start
and theres 2 things il say as advice,

check the water
check the oil

toyotas are knowing for burnong oil and boiling off water, so make it a weekly thing to check both,
best of luck with it anyway mate

STARLET is one of the kind that Toyota produce Turbo, small and powerful. Its also with more modification options and never ending project car :)
